In Paris, there are several ways to enjoy sports, go to the theater, attend concerts, or see the opera without breaking the bank.
For those under 30, a great tip is to visit the Kiosques Jeunes (Youth Kiosks), where you can benefit from numerous daily discounts and reduced rates on a wide range of shows, as well as invitations to certain events! More info here.
Similarly, the 5 Youth Centers (Espaces Jeunes) in Paris offer various free activities all year round for those under 25: film discussions, sports, art, tutoring, and more.
For everyone else (no, I’m not calling you old, since I’m in that group too…), 3 ticket kiosks offer theater tickets at half price for same-day performances. Tickets must be picked up on-site, and you can easily find seats, especially in the summer, even for popular shows.
Madeleine Place Kiosk (Paris 2nd arr.), Madeleine Metro station
Montparnasse Station Kiosk (Paris 14th arr.), Montparnasse Metro station
Place des Ternes Kiosk (Paris 17th arr.), Ternes Metro station
Opening hours : Tuesday to Saturday from 12:30 PM to 8:00 PM and Sunday from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM
Also, keep in mind that many venues offer discounts for the unemployed, those under 28, and groups, so don’t hesitate to take a look at their websites or inquire directly on-site!
Here is a small selection of my best tips:
La Salle Pleyel offers last-minute rates for remaining seats 30 minutes before the start of concerts for 1st to 4th categories. However, this advantageous rate only applies to those under 28, those over 65, the unemployed, and social welfare recipients. The prices are: €30, €20, or €10 depending on the concert.
La Comédie Française sells 65 tickets at €5 at the “petit bureau” (under the arcades of Rue de Richelieu) one hour before each performance at the Salle Richelieu. Importantly, these tickets are free on the first Monday of every month for those under 28, thanks to the sponsorship of Caisse d’Epargne Ile-de-France. Of course, you can imagine these aren’t the best seats in the theater!
The Paris Opera (Bastille and Garnier) offers last-minute tickets (15 minutes before the start of each performance) at a special rate for those under 28, job seekers, and senior citizens.
Looking forward to seeing you at a show!
