Cocktail bars in Paris, my top addresses

by Melle Bon Plan
Published: Updated:

For me, cocktail bars are temples of Parisian elegance; you step through a door and very often find yourself in a den for insiders where high-level mixology is unveiled by bartenders who prepare cocktails that are as tasty as they are aesthetic. Let’s not hide it, making good cocktails is an art, and to do so, it is important to know how to find bartenders capable of precise dosing and mastering the marriage of aromas. Here is my selection of nice and accessible bars in Paris that fit into this category.

My favorite addresses are obviously those where you can enjoy quality cocktails without breaking the bank, and where you can manage to have a conversation with your neighbor without spitting in their ear (an exercise that turns out to be very perilous, as you know if you have already scoured the capital’s nightlife spots). My selection also leans towards cozy and hushed bars because I particularly appreciate subdued atmospheres when I drink a triple-S beverage (insiders will understand), especially if I am in good company…

To also help us in this quest for the best Parisian cocktail bars, new bar booking sites that are entirely free have just recently emerged. In the same spirit, Ruub was created by a team of geeks and creatives and offers a free online booking service for Parisian venues. So it is worth testing to maybe find new addresses to discover and share…

Warning: alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health. Consume in moderation.

Le Jefrey’s, gentleman’s bar (closed)

Le Jefrey’s is a gentleman’s bar, cozy and chic with an extremely intimate atmosphere. The establishment is small, but it is a good address passed by word of mouth among connoisseurs. On the program for this elegant place: cocktails worthy of those served in grand hotels at very reasonable prices (between €12 and €16), as well as a very beautiful selection of whiskey (more than 200 references) for enthusiasts (to be enjoyed neat, otherwise it would be a waste).

The place is very small but extremely refined. Large leather armchairs and comfortable sofas make you want to sip your drink for hours. Upstairs, we find a small mezzanine that reminds one of a club for London gentlemen. It is also very intimate, and that is where we sat down to enjoy our cocktails. The menu changes regularly, and the latest one from 2019 offers the result of a collaboration with 12 tattoo artists and the creation of 12 cocktails, each reflecting their style.

We tasted: the Clumsy Hands, the Nausikaa, and the Monsieur Charles (€14 per cocktail).

The little extra: the menu offers vintage cocktails that allow you to discover the history of the cocktail by tasting the classics served during Prohibition, for example. It is also particularly pleasant to discuss all this with Benjamin, the bartender of this hushed place.

This bar, located in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris, offers a menu of ultra-modern, precise, and premium cocktails. You will also find an Oyster Bar with Utah Beach hollow oysters from Jean Paul Guernier, or even wild hollow ones hand-picked for the enthusiasts!

La Conserverie (closed)

A bar whose decor and atmosphere I appreciate very much. You really have to know the address because walking past the door, nothing lets you suspect the place that is behind it. Indeed, this bar, which has existed since 2008, moved into a former fabric factory that has been decorated in an eclectic industrial but cozy style. My advice: the ideal place for an intimate meeting, perfect for confidences…

The Little Red Door is one of the essential addresses of Parisian mixology, a speakeasy located in the Marais and hidden behind an intriguing little red door. The cocktail bar, which has appeared many times in the World’s 50 Best Bars, reopened at the end of January 2026 after a nice change in decor, intimate but not intimidating. Taken over in 2024 by Hugo Gallou and Hyacinthe Lescoët, co-founders of The Cambridge Public House (which I also talk about just below), the little red door reinvented itself while keeping the quality of service and cocktails.

As for the cocktail menu, it is of a very high level. Named “Agri/Culture,” the menu offers creations made with a majority of domestic products, and each cocktail is named in homage to the “future farming techniques.” We tested several cocktails among their most original creations on the menu I think, such as Agroforestry, Precision, or even Carbon with black garlic and beet. Verdict: the cocktails are incredible, the setting is cozy and welcoming, the team is friendly and will explain all the cocktails in detail; all you have to do is wait patiently for the little red door to open…

The Cambridge Public House

This super cocktail bar, The Cambridge Public House, is located in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, just below the Place de la République. The address is a mix between a British pub and a cocktail bar. It is not very big, and the atmosphere is super friendly and relaxed.

As for cocktails, it’s the real deal, and they are made with house preparations and seasonal ingredients (so the menu changes quite regularly). Plus, they are super original, like this Broccoli Sour, Saint-Germain, gin, and Mezcal. And you also have little things to nibble on to accompany your cocktails.

This Parisian cocktail bar, located right next to the Place de la République, offers private spaces for events and also cocktail classes every Saturday at 5 PM! The class is divided into 3 parts and is led by an experienced bartender.

We already learned the basics of the cocktail first, which we then put into practice by making a cocktail recipe: the Basil Instinct. Thanks to Alex’s advice, I learned how to shake like a pro! I opted for the non-alcoholic mocktail version (with a product from the brand Nolow), and I was quite amazed by the result in terms of taste. All this was accompanied by some very nice homemade tapas. Alex then explained the production processes of different spirits, and it was our turn to imagine and create a unique and original cocktail recipe according to our desires, with advice on pairings given by Alex, of course. And then there is a 3rd part that is quite fun, but I won’t tell you more to keep the surprise if you also want to learn how to make cocktails like a pro! I am even offering a small promo code below to benefit from a discount if you want to try the experience!

It had been a long time since I wanted to go discover this cocktail bar specializing in Gin. We sat on the terrace with my friend to enjoy some Gin & Tonics (prices between €12 and €16) and some tapas to share (prices between €6 and €13), like crispy chicken (€12) or even creamy stracciatella (€11). We also tested the signature cocktails (prices between €13 and €15), which are also very good. I particularly tasted the Pinata Colada (€14) with mezcal, which I recommend if you like this alcohol.

L’Arbane

This very nice little cocktail bar nestled in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés has been offering very high-quality signature cocktails for almost 10 years. We discovered the address in 2017 and returned with pleasure in 2026. I like the hushed atmosphere of the place, and to accompany the cocktails, the place also offers small plates to share with good products (24-month Serrano ham, truffle Gouda, mild Iberian chorizo, 180-month matured Comté…). The little extra: a vaulted room in the basement that is totally private for parties.

To taste:

  • The Coffig, an Arbane creation version of the Espresso Martini (coffee, sugar, Arbane No. 1 distillate with fig and Timur berry), €14
  • The Jol (gin, clementines, lovage, aquavit, and hazelnut), €14
  • The Hercule (mezcal, leek, butter, vermouth, and vanilla), €15

A true institution for exotic cocktails in Paris, Dirty Dick, which has existed for 13 years now, has established itself as one of the reference bars in France for lovers of rum and tiki cocktails. We discovered the place during Tiki Week (from March 19 to April 5, 2026) with a creation cocktail (€14) imagined especially for the event: the Great Molasses Swizzle (with Angostura 7yo, fig leaf panela syrup, lime juice, and mango bitter Angostura foam). I think it is the ideal address in Paris to discover the tropical universe and the great recipes of Caribbean cocktail culture.

Le Glass (closed)

One of my cocktail haunts from last year in the Pigalle neighborhood, which I had already told you about on the blog. Opened by the Candelaria team in the now-trendy So-Pi (meaning South Pigalle), the Glass is a former “girlie bar” (meaning… well, I think you see what I’m talking about…).

Néroli is a cocktail bar located in Paris in the 11th, which also offers Mediterranean cuisine. The address offers a menu of classic and signature cocktails, made around Mediterranean products. I found the cocktails we tasted very original but especially perfectly balanced, which I think is the central pillar of successful mixology.
And to accompany these sweet drinks, we tasted several plates like the cauliflower, feta, and chickpea cream (€9), the beef stew and polenta (€20), or the yellow chicken with zaatar (€18).

And then I’ll give you a very good tip if you want to discover this address: the happy hour from 6 PM to 8 PM with all cocktails at €10. If that’s not a good deal, honestly, I don’t know what is!

This cocktail bar located in the Asian district is one of the rare addresses of this type in this arrondissement, which nevertheless does not lack good food addresses. Here, the cocktails are of very high quality and, in addition, they are extremely original because the establishment’s mixologist Mei Ho utilizes ancestral Chinese medicinal herbs for the making of each of her cocktails. As for the decor, the immersive setting immerses you in the Chinese aesthetic of the 30s and more broadly of Asia. And since October 2023, the address also offers a speakeasy club in the basement, Shanghai Surprise.

Zozoo, the cocktail bar of the Butte aux Cailles (closed)

This address, located in the heart of the Butte aux Cailles in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, is a bar/club that offers eclectic musical programming, while also offering elaborate cocktails and high-quality snacks! Upstairs, we find the bar and some relaxed benches to sit and have a drink while enjoying the establishment’s food menu. And in the basement, we discover an immersive mini-club that comes alive during the evening and switches to clubbing mode with DJ sets from 10:00 PM until 2:00 AM in the morning.

As for cocktails (prices between €11 and €12), we find super original and perfectly balanced creations with homemade syrups and surprising tastes. And for food, the menu is also well-crafted with homemade and fresh products, inspired by the countries of South America and Asia.

The Yeeels is a hushed, trendy, and glamorous cocktail bar for enjoying high-level cocktails in the Parisian Golden Triangle. To access it, you descend a few steps to enter the glitzy and golden basement of the establishment. The decor, signed by Rodolphe Parente and Benjamin Liatoud (interior architects and designers), is sophisticated and designed. This nightclub bar is also a restaurant, and you also go there to listen to a bit of music and dance to a sharp mix when night falls. Homemade cocktails are prepared with premium alcohol and unique ingredients.

To taste:

  • The Cydonia (€18) with Domfrontais calvados, amber martini, quince jelly, lemon, and egg white.
  • The Firedside Old Fashioned (€19), rosemary-infused whiskey, tobacco liqueur, orange, maple syrup, and orange bitter.

Not to be missed: even if you are not a smoker, you absolutely must go take a look at the smoking room and the venue’s bathrooms, which are all mirrored! A great spot for some Instagram photos.

Bar Combat

This trendy bar located on the heights of Belleville offers creative and high-quality cocktails at very reasonable prices and in a cozy atmosphere. This bar, which received the “Best Responsible Bar” award, is run by women, and you can find notably behind the counter Margot Combat, a talented head mixologist. I discovered 2 cocktails there imagined in collaboration with the Norman house Busnel: the Busnel Martini and the Busnel Mule.

Le Bar du Mama Shelter East Paris

This trendy, boho, and urban place was decorated by Philippe Starck and created by Serge Trigano in 2008. Result: upscale quirky with a slate ceiling smeared with chalk. To drink your cocktail, you sit on high stools and lean directly onto the zinc. On the other hand, don’t dream of sitting quietly around a table and its comfortable sofas, because they are reserved for restaurant clients, so you must also order something to nibble on to be settled comfortably…

Creations to test:
