Here is a new article about Quebec and the continuation of my series around my multiple trips to Montreal (in 2010, 2013, and 2018). But this time, I’m offering you a post exclusively dedicated to awakening the taste buds and to the top spots in the city of Montreal (well, at least the ones I had the chance to test).
In any case, I hope the photos will make your mouth water a little and that these spots will be useful for your next stopover in Quebec. I am suggesting spots for brunch, as well as a place to buy tea, a tea room, and a vegan restaurant!

My Montreal spots
As usual, I’d like to share with you below the gourmet spots I had the opportunity to test during my escapes to Montreal over the years.

Arts Café Montreal
Weekend brunch is somewhat of an institution in Montreal. It’s done with family or friends, but you absolutely must treat yourself to this activity if you are passing through Montreal on a Saturday or Sunday. Anyway, during our visit in 2018, we went to brunch at Arts Café which is located in the Plateau Mont-Royal and Mile End neighborhood, following the recommendations of our Petit Futé Montreal guide (see at the end of this article) and it was very nice.

Les Glaceurs
To enjoy good cupcakes, I recommend Les Glaceurs, a brand that has at least two locations in Montreal, including one with a charming tea room where you can sit back and relax.

Juliette et Chocolat
Juliette et Chocolat is a very friendly place with an all-chocolate concept. It can be a very good place for a date with girlfriends or just to go eat a little dessert. In the same vein, there are other all-chocolate places in the city. Again, it is a very widespread brand and you will find many Juliette et Chocolat restaurants in Montreal but also in Quebec City or even in Trois-Rivières.

The Sparrow bar
You know me, I love brunches, so I absolutely wanted to test the one at Sparrow, a Montreal address already well known to the city’s inhabitants. And honestly, I wasn’t disappointed with this choice, it’s really an excellent spot for brunch that I recommend to you. The principle of brunch in Montreal is a bit different from our traditional Parisian brunch, because instead of a menu, they are individual plates that you buy, and then you add tea, coffee, fruit juices, etc.
I was particularly blown away by the eggs benedict tasted on site, really delicious, and by the fluffiness of the pancakes, a real killer! My only criticism would be about the tea, served in a bag and not of incredible quality, which is a bit of a shame in comparison to the rest of the food.

Aux Vivres, vegan restaurant
For Green Geekette‘s birthday (during my stay in Montreal in 2013), we went to eat at a vegan restaurant called Aux Vivres. I tested the vegan burger and my friend took a dragon bowl and a super cheesecake. It is also a fresh juice bar for fans. There are now 2 different locations for this brand in Montreal (one on the Plateau and the other in the Westmount district).

Le Moineau Masqué
The Moineau Masqué was still a somewhat new and secret address in Montreal when I discovered it with pleasure in 2013, on my birthday. It is above all a very cozy coffee shop that also makes just succulent waffles! There is also a small garden where there are a few tables and where you can sit to enjoy your coffee on sunny days (which was still the case in this month of October).

Davids Tea
Davids Tea is a trendy tea brand in Quebec. I really didn’t think I would find a good tea spot in Montreal, and yet I even brought some back in my suitcases! Discovered at my host’s place, I was charmed by the very original tastes and names of this brand, especially by a tea from the autumn collection, the Pumpkin Chai Tea. I therefore recommend that you go to one of the city’s locations to stock up on Quebec tea.

My top spots around Montreal
In this second chapter, I invite you to discover a great sugar shack spot in the surroundings of Montreal.

Sugar shack around Montreal
I went for a little trip to the shores of Lake of Two Mountains, passing through the small town of Hudson and next to the Oka Indian reserve. This little trip in the surroundings of Montreal was mainly intended to get me to the Sucrerie de la Montagne, because even if it wasn’t really the season to go to a sugar shack, the scenery and decor are worth the detour. It’s especially a great opportunity to buy good maple products like maple syrup or maple butter for example!
