Cinema Paradiso at the Grand Palais

For 12 days, from June 10 to June 21, 2013, the Grand Palais will pulse to the rhythm of an exceptional public event organized by MK2: “Cinema Paradiso.”

This event will take over the 12,000 m2 of the Grand Palais Nave and reinvent the cinema experience at the Grand Palais by offering the largest Drive-In ever created in a capital city!

This Drive-In will be structured into four areas: cinema, dining, gaming, and clubbing. It will host up to 1,000 spectators per screening, nestled in the seats of Fiat 500 family cars or perched on a specially designed hill.

A “Moët & Chandon Tasting” pass will allow moviegoers to access a luxury area to enjoy a glass of champagne before the screening.

With the world’s largest temporary screen as a windshield and the monument’s majestic vaults as the bodywork, Cinema Paradiso will chew through the miles of the most iconic film reels: from Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski, and Grease to Taxi Driver, Psycho, Annie Hall… at a rate of 2 screenings per day.

At the heart of the Nave, there will be an American diner, created by Omnivore, who is bringing in chef Gita Seaton from Canada, a star of North American cuisine. She will set up her “Nouveau Palais” under the glass roof of the Grand Palais, where bacon and eggs, cheeseburgers, fried chicken, and chocolate pudding will reign supreme.

Throughout the day, a large gaming area will bring together designers, vintage arcade cabinets, and an exhibition, the Golden Age of Video Games, which will trace the evolution of video games from their beginnings to their imminent future. On the program: dozens of machines, games and iconic characters, videos, and period advertisements.
