Séries Mania season 5

Published: Updated:

It’s almost one of my favorite Parisian events of the year, the one I wouldn’t miss for anything (well, almost…) and that I write about every year on the blog.

Season 5 of the Séries Mania festival will take place from April 22 to April 30, 2014 at the Forum des images, just like every year.

And as a new feature this year, the festival will extend its program by three extra days, while keeping free admission (which is highly appreciated!).

The event dedicated to current international television series and their creators offers a rich program, with free access to be enjoyed on the big screen.

From the United States to Korea, from France to Australia, through Belgium, Israel, Great Britain, Quebec, and Denmark, more than forty series, either brand new or in preview, will be presented again this year.

On the program: screenings of first episodes, marathon sessions or full seasons, a selection of international web series, exceptional encounters with renowned creators, a space for exchange and debate with authors, artists, and producers from all over the world, a European co-production forum for TV series, 3 round tables, 3 conferences, and the traditional Allo Ciné round table at the opening of the festival.

Alongside the Audience Awards and the International Press awards, Séries Mania is creating two other awards this year: the Bloggers’ Award, in the “world series” section, and the Internet Users’ Award, in the new international web series section.

  • the beginning of the new season of Game of Thrones

I’m taking advantage of this series news to slip in a few words about a series I discovered very recently on the advice of my girlfriend Les Bridgets, which tells the story of the true pioneers of the science of human sexuality: Masters of Sex (a series for which you can also discover the first episodes at Séries Mania!).

Masters of Sex Season 1 DVD Blu-ray promotion. Do it. For science. This first season looks back at the breakthroughs of Dr. William Masters (Michael Sheen), a brilliant and renowned fertility specialist, and Virginia Johnson (Lizzy Caplan), a former cabaret singer who will become his invaluable collaborator.

Masters and Johnson shocked the puritanical America of the 50s, but their discoveries paved the way for the sexual revolution and the understanding of the physiological reactions of the human body, particularly the female body.

The series depicts the unusual lives, the love story, and the journey through pop culture of Masters and Johnson, and the effect that their research had on their families, their colleagues, and society.

Their studies sparked a sexual revolution and took them from a small Midwest hospital to the cover of Time magazine.

The complete season 1 of Masters of Sex (12 episodes) has just been released on Blu-ray (€34.99), DVD (€29.99), and VOD
