After captivating more than 350,000 spectators, the show iD by Cirque Éloize is returning to Paris for 20 exceptional performances from January 17 to February 03, 2013.
At the heart of the renewal of circus arts since 1993, Cirque Éloize creates touching shows imbued with poetry, featuring an explosive mix: breathtaking circus performances and urban dances set to an electro-rock soundtrack.
iD, directed by Jeannot Painchaud, is the seventh original creation from Cirque Éloize, blending urban dances, hip hop codes, and contemporary circus.
This multidisciplinary artistic approach combines street dance and sports with classic circus arts: stilts, trampolines, hoops, and trapezes share the stage with inline skates, trials biking, and urban dance.
For nearly two hours, the troupe plunges us into the heart of a big city where imagery is omnipresent: comic books, science fiction films, and the rich universe of the graffiti world.
On stage: 14 artists, 13 circus disciplines, music that is resolutely rock, electronic, and poetic, as well as the presence of video projections.
If you are on the lookout for a resolutely contemporary, or even urban, circus, this show is likely to delight you with its energy, spontaneity, and freshness—at least, that is what I felt. But in that case, hurry up because there are only a few dates left at the Grand Rex!
