My stay at the Hôtel de Malte in Paris

There is nothing more thrilling than being a tourist in your own city. Playing pretend, convincing yourself you’re going on vacation, sleeping in a different bed, dreaming in different sheets… It’s a pleasure that might seem frivolous, but it is truly a breath of fresh air when you live in a big urban city, caught in the whirlwind of Parisian life.

It is also an opportunity for me to recommend Parisian hotels by having a real experience of the place rather than just sneaking a quick peek inside…

Located in the heart of Paris, facing the National Library between the Opéra and the Louvre, the Hôtel Malte has been welcoming visitors to the capital since 1797! 220 years after its opening, this establishment, belonging to the Astotel Group, has been completely renovated with decor designed by Sophie Hanniet.

I really loved the 18th-century facade (in front of which we took some fun photos for instagram with the Man in the Hat) and the building’s typically Parisian architecture.

The common areas are also very lovely and always very well thought out in Astotel hotels (remember, in a previous article, I also tested the 34B from the same group).

Our Duplex Room No. 110

The hotel’s Duplex rooms span two floors and are illuminated by windows over three meters high, which really provides beautiful natural light in the room. They can accommodate 4 people and are therefore perfect for families (we felt like two kids with so much space just for us…).

I must admit, however, that I’m not a huge fan of the room decor, which isn’t exactly to my taste, but hey…

With my favorite photographer, we obviously took advantage of the situation to do a series of “jumping on the bed” photos, which totally exhausted me (goofing around on a bed is physically demanding; you don’t really realize it…).

Breakfast

I loved being able to have my breakfast outside in the hotel’s colorful patio; to me, eating outdoors is a true sign of being on vacation.
