This festive event, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Communication since 2005, has become a key date in the French cultural calendar.
This year, the 10th European Night of Museums will take place tonight, Saturday, May 17, 2014.
From Moscow to Madrid, from London to Istanbul, it is an opportunity for visitors of all ages to rediscover the masterpieces found in 3,000 museums across about thirty European countries, and more than 1,300 museums in France will offer a wide range of programs.
A rich and diverse program, punctuated by exchanges, encounters, and discoveries.
The website and the Night’s social media channels will be active through special online operations, organized with the event’s partners.
Melle Bon Plan’s selection:
- The Musée du quai Branly is offering a special evening themed around the night.
storytelling sessions (from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM), artistic encounters, a video art screening by artist Julien Levy in the foyer of the Claude Lévi-Strauss theater (from 6:00 PM to midnight), and tours of the collections (from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM) are scheduled to immerse visitors in a world of dreams and poetry.
This night at the museum will conclude on a festive note with a DJ set featuring tracks selected in connection with the night’s theme and resonances created with the museum’s sound archives.
Exceptional night opening, free access to collections and exhibitions from 6:00 PM to midnight
Activities with free access, no reservation required, subject to availability
- The Palais de la Porte Dorée, Museum of the History of Immigration (from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM) and the Tropical Aquarium (from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM) will open their spaces for free for this Night of Museums.
The museum will offer a unique and unprecedented experience by involving artists and the public for the temporary closure of the “Repères” exhibition for renovations.
Choreographer and dancer Sophiatou Kossoko will offer a backward tour of “Repères” until 10:30 PM, punctuated by readings, dances, and performances, and will invite the public to symbolically close this museum space for the summer.
- As for me, I am currently in Cannes and I think I’ll go check out the Musée de la Castre between two screenings. I was already able to discover this museum in the same context in 2011.
All that remains is for me to wish you a wonderful Night of Museums, full of discovery and magic.
