With my life as a traveler, you know that I love to talk to you about hotels on the blog because I have to admit that I test quite a few during my wanderings, whether in France or abroad. Today, however, I would like to talk to you about a Parisian hotel (yes, that’s right, the city where I live), the CitizenM Paris Gare de Lyon, because you know I love playing tourist in my own city. The hotel is ideally located a stone’s throw from the Gare de Lyon in a former office tower with modern architecture, which allows for a sublime view of the city. It is also the 3rd hotel of the brand in the French capital.
To go back a bit to the establishment, CitizenM is a new generation of hotel group from Holland that aims to redefine the standards of the hospitality sector. The goal is to meet the needs and wishes of today’s urban travelers by offering affordable luxury. The citizenM philosophy is “luxury for all,” offering its guests all the luxury they would expect in a high-end hotel with a prime location, all while remaining affordable. And obviously, it’s the kind of philosophy that I appreciate, as you might guess. CitizenM opened its first establishment at Amsterdam Schiphol airport in 2008 and today has hotels in 15 cities all over the world such as Glasgow, Rotterdam, New York, Paris, Shanghai, and even London.

Our room at the CitizenM Paris Gare de Lyon hotel
All rooms at the CitizenM are equipped with a king-size bed, a large designer shower, and panoramic windows to enjoy the view of Paris. I find these rooms really very functional but also very cozy. I felt really at ease there.
The little extra: free VOD, free wifi, and a digital tablet called Mood pad to “interact” with the room (lights, TV, temperature…).
Breakfast
It is served buffet-style in the lobby at canteenM, which is also a place where you can find something to eat or drink 24/7. Which is really convenient!
The Lobby and common areas
These spaces are extremely well designed in this establishment with pleasant volumes where you want to settle down and take your time. I also particularly like the small open-air interior courtyard which allows you to have breakfast on the terrace in the heart of the hotel if the weather is nice.
The tip: the cloudM, the establishment’s skybar on the 16th floor, offers monthly free events upon registration.
