I don’t know why, but I think my first steps in baking began with making cookies during my teenage years… Actually, I do remember why… My father was taking English lessons with an American teacher, and he dragged me along to try to improve my level, which was close to zero (because my grades were also, therefore, close to zero). And this charming American had the great idea to make us work on an English cookie recipe, of course! I might not have retained much from those lessons, but I did hold on to the authentic, made-in-USA cookie recipe.
Anyway, after that episode, my cookies became a sort of signature trademark, and my friends would rush over to taste my soft creations (yes, I like them when they aren’t overbaked), and while it didn’t make me bilingual, the whole story at least brought me a bit of culinary popularity and a great love for these little round treats.

In fact, just yesterday I made about twenty of them, just to see if I remembered the method… well, clearly it’s like riding a bike, you never forget… But I imagine that after this little presentation, I must have made you want to taste my cookies! Unfortunately, you obviously can’t all come to my place and wait in line in front of my building for me to give you a cookie… that would take a while, or else I’d have to change careers… So, here is the famous recipe for my homemade cookies below!

My Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe
For about 6 dozen cookies
Ingredients: 200g white sugar; 200g brown sugar; 250g softened butter; 2 eggs; 500g flour (sometimes I use a little less); 1 tsp baking soda (great for digestion); 1/2 tsp salt; 1 1/2 tsp vanilla; 250g chopped hazelnuts or walnuts; 2 chocolate bars (dark, white, or milk, according to your preference) chopped into small pieces
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Mix the sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla (using your hands is best). Add the flour, baking soda, and salt (the dough should be firm). Fold in the nuts and chocolate. Let the dough rest.
Take a tablespoon of dough, place it on a greased baking sheet, and continue, spacing each cookie well. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes (depending on your oven) at 425°F (220°C), watching until they turn slightly golden brown (or keep them shorter if you like them a bit underbaked). Remove from the oven, let them cool and set for a moment, then remove from the sheet.

La Fabrique Cookies
This brand specializing in cookies prepares its dough daily in its factory in Gennevilliers, in the Paris region. The cookies are then baked on-site at the brand’s 13 stores. Their cookies are also sold on the La Fabrique Cookies e-shop.
The great tip: every year since 2018, La Fabrique Cookies organizes CookieDay, a day where all cookies are free in 10 of the brand’s stores, and delivery is free on the e-shop!

Pépite Cookie
I discovered this cookie brand, which originally comes from the Aquitaine region, in 2025. Founded in 2021 in Cap Ferret by Hugo Bassani, Pépite Cookie is an artisanal brand that offers cookies with a melt-in-the-mouth, semi-baked texture, made without artificial colors or flavors. Their flagship products come in three playful formats (the ‘Pitchoune’ bite-sized, the ‘Classic’, and the 120g maxi ‘Daron’) and highlight quality ingredients like Guérande fleur de sel or homemade spread, especially in their signature molten-center recipe.
