Memories of the Future at La Maison Rouge (giveaway inside)

There are those places you’ve been hearing about for a long time but, for some reason, never managed to visit. Lack of time, lack of motivation, lack of opportunity—in short, just poor excuses!
The Maison Rouge falls completely into this category for me.

That is now a thing of the past, as I headed over to this beautiful venue last week to discover the temporary exhibition currently on display.

The latter, “Memories of the Future” (presented until January 15, 2012), invites visitors to discover a part of the collection belonging to Thomas Olbricht, one of the greatest German collectors of our time.

This endocrinologist has built a collection where the intertwining of the past and the future occurs through ancient works that Olbricht brings into dialogue with contemporary pieces.

Installation: skulls including VIS CONSUL, in front of a modern Last Supper and a hanging skull.

The exhibition is very dense in terms of the diversity of the works as well as the history of art, and I highly recommend taking advantage of the free guided tours offered to the public on Saturdays and Sundays at 4:00 PM.

A little bonus for the venue: for about a year now, the Maison Rouge has hosted Rose Bakery within its walls, with a specific project focusing on food, of course, but also on ephemeral decor imagined by interior designer and scenographer Emilie Bonaventure, which changes with every temporary exhibition (every 3 months).
