A little post for this festive season to kick off the countdown to Christmas with you, one of my favorite times of the year to end 2020 in style and with plenty of treats… I think, given how this year has gone, we all really need it…
Here is a little selection of Advent calendars, gleaned here and there, to make you want to open a little window with a lovely gift every day until December 24th. In any case, I am really looking forward to it, and even more so this year, when all is said and done…
By the way, just like last year, I am organizing a special Mademoiselle Bon Plan Advent Calendar during the month of December, with nice prizes to be won almost every day, either on my social networks (facebook, twitter or instagram), or on the blog starting December 1st. You will have to search every day to find where the prize is hidden to be able to participate in the contest.

A little history: The Advent calendar is a German tradition, created to help children wait until Christmas. Originally, they were given a pious image each morning, accompanied by a sentence from the Gospel or an invitation to perform a good deed. Over time, treats and other sweets gradually replaced the images.

A non-exhaustive selection of Advent calendars
I must say that I love gourmet calendars, even if this year I tried to diversify the selection by adding a few calendars featuring products that are still edible but more original. I also tried to include a selection with a very wide price range.

An important point to note, this calendar is entirely Made In France and presents each box in a small removable cube that looks like a gift package.

The La Boite du Fromager Advent Calendar
I had already mentioned La Boite du Fromager in my article dedicated to my good cheese addresses in Paris! This year I’m talking about it again to introduce their Cheese Advent calendar which offers a journey into the heart of French regions.
From December 1st to 24th, this calendar offers a selection of exceptional cheeses, from the most traditional to the rarest. All were specially chosen in partnership with Pierre Rollet-Gérard, a passionate cheesemaker who meets farm cheesemakers all over France. The cheeses are sent in two packages of 12 cheeses (10 days apart) to ensure the freshness of the products.
The calendar contains 24 pieces of cheese and weighs about 1.2 kilograms because each cheese weighs about 50 grams.

The Advent Calendar by Dalloyau is as much a decorative object as it is a gourmet one. Hanging from a beautiful wooden branch, confectionery, chocolate candies and other treats (fried chocolate, rochers, mendiants, orangettes, pralines, truffles, shortbread, rose des sables…) are to be discovered every day in pretty numbered pouches.

François Doucet has been a confectioner in Provence for over 50 years and in his Advent calendar we find chocolate confectionery and melt-in-the-mouth fruit jellies. And then I find the drawings that adorn the calendar very pretty, which doesn’t hurt!
