My Nuit Blanche 2018

The start of the new season is a highlight of the Parisian cultural scene, during which Nuit Blanche stands out as a must-attend event.

This year, the 2018 edition (the 17th edition) will be held on the night of Saturday, October 6th, from 7 PM until the early hours of the next day. As for me, I will still be in Quebec and unfortunately won’t be able to enjoy it, but I still wanted to write a short article on the subject again this year with my selection of things to see.

This edition aims to shine a spotlight on both famous and lesser-known monuments in the capital, some of which have never been used during Nuit Blanche, as well as to give a new platform to emerging talents across all artistic disciplines, from visual arts to dance, theater, or music.

The routes, which artistic director Gaël Charbau has named by analogy “constellations” (as it involves connecting creators and places to the public along imaginary lines), will number four:

  • Invalides Constellation
  • Île Saint Louis Constellation
  • La Villette Constellation
  • Porte Dorée Constellation

Musée de l’Armée Hôtel des Invalides

For its first participation in the Nuit Blanche event, the Musée de l’Armée invites the public to stroll through the main courtyard from 7 PM to 1 AM and attend a series of concerts by Waed Bouhassoun, a Syrian singer accompanied by refugee musicians from the Orpheus XXI orchestra created by Jordi Savall.

Cité de la musique – Philharmonie de Paris

From classical to contemporary, the Philharmonie travels through five ghostly nights. After a celebration of twilight by clarinetist Yom and organist Baptiste-Florian Marle-Ouvrard, the specters of Debussy or Mahler play on mechanical pianos while Nicolas Horvath performs the complete piano works of Satie and the New York ensemble yMusic blends American pop and classical music for one night.
