I really like the restaurants by Fils à Maman, and I’ve been invited to test several of their locations in Paris. First off, because the decor is always nice, and you find a warm, almost familial atmosphere that always makes me feel good when I visit one of their spots. Secondly, because special attention is always given to the cooking.
La Prairie du Petit Resto, the latest addition to the range, has just opened in the heart of the 9th arrondissement of Paris and offers an quirky farm-like setting with service that is always smiling.
This restaurant immerses us in a rustic, warm atmosphere reminiscent of family meals in the countryside, and focuses on the authentic taste of local farm produce.
The place is particularly well-suited for a large group of friends, as there is almost a small room, separated from the rest of the restaurant by a glass partition, which is perfect for groups looking for more privacy (a spot to keep in mind for celebrating a birthday, for example).
For the rest, there are also discreet corners for a dinner with your partner, or a lovely little terrace for lounging in the summer.
As for the food, the cuisine is intended to be artisanal, tasty, and generous. The goal is to offer seasonal produce all year round, thanks to the variety of producers who work with the restaurant.
A nice touch at the restaurant is that the side dishes are clearly separated from the main courses, so you can choose your vegetable or starch to best pair with what you’ve selected, or simply according to your own taste. A very good idea, which avoids feeling awkward asking for changes to the menu.
For example, your honey-glazed farm pork ribs can be served with a cauliflower cream gratin (very good) or with sautéed organic spinach—it’s up to you…
For dessert, I recommend trying the Isigny cream chocolate mousse if you like that; it is extremely light and leans more towards milk chocolate, for those who prefer that.
La Prairie du Petit Resto Open Tuesday to Friday from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM / Saturday from 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM 6 rue Lamartine 75009 Paris Update from April 20, 2019: this restaurant is unfortunately permanently closed. I walked by the other day and noticed it's a different restaurant now...
