What could be more pleasant than a little terrace for the sunny days?! And of course, we’ve been waiting for this so impatiently all year that even unpredictable weather hasn’t stopped me (and I imagine not you either?) from starting to test terraces at the very first rays of sunshine. In this article, I’m offering you a selection of the best Parisian spots for summer, in terms of terraces. I also update this article regularly to add my new discoveries and to refresh the information on all these spots. For simplicity, I have organized this article and my selection of terraces by Parisian arrondissement.

The terrace of Le Grand Véfour

Le Grand Véfour is undoubtedly an iconic place in Parisian life, whether for its gastronomy, its literary history (Colette was a regular at this address as she lived in an apartment nearby), its art scene, or even its political history. Opened in 1784, this restaurant has crossed the centuries, comfortably nestled in the magnificent setting of the Palais-Royal gardens (a place that, by the way, didn’t always have a great reputation until the mid-19th century, as it housed many gambling dens and other libertine entertainment venues).
In the summer, as every year for the past few years, the restaurant is authorized to set up its terrace under the colonnades of the Palais-Royal in addition to a few tables overlooking the interior of the garden. For me, it’s a truly memorable moment because it’s often my first terrace session of the year! Plus, the good news is that this part of the terrace under the peristyle is permanent and comes back every summer. Another advantage is that this terrace, sheltered by the arcades, is a great spot regardless of the weather!

On the plates, you’ll find cuisine that is simpler than before, but still just as good and at softer prices. Indeed, Le Grand Véfour is returning to its roots as a place “to gather” from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week, with more simplicity and friendliness (even if the service remains as impeccable as ever). Special mention for the desserts, which are still just as sublime!
As for drinks, let the establishment’s sommelier guide you for a nice glass of wine by the glass that pairs with your dish. Otherwise, regarding the bar, the establishment offers a lovely cocktail menu, and for those who don’t drink alcohol, I tested one of the non-alcoholic cocktails on the menu for you and I must say it was really very good.

The secret terrace of Le Roch Hôtel & Spa

It is always a pleasure to return to the restaurant at Le Roch Hôtel & Spa (which I talk about very regularly on the blog and also on my Instagram account @mellebonplan) to discover the establishment’s new additions! Since last summer, the establishment’s superb hidden terrace has become greener and is now known as Le Potager. And in 2024, it is hosting the Maison tropézienne Vilebrequin for the summer season with its new chef Frédérick Lyard. To celebrate the return of summer, he offers a gourmet and colorful menu that puts the flavors of the South, its vegetables from Le Potager, its aromatic herbs, and its sun-drenched fruits at the heart of the plate. On the menu: simple yet refined cuisine with excellent products and perfectly mastered cooking techniques (special mention for the meat and fish dishes). I am still just as big a fan of their colorful plates, which already make you want to savor them when you see them arriving at the table!
In short, like every year, the terrace of Le Roch Hôtel & Spa is a little gem that we only reveal to the people we love, because we know they will have a wonderful time there—a break in the heart of the capital—and that they will enjoy the establishment’s cuisine, which has never disappointed us.

The very Parisian terrace of Café du Louvre

If you are looking for a terrace with a very Parisian atmosphere near the Louvre Museum, I recommend the terrace of the Café du Louvre. The welcome is very friendly, and the “to-order” detox juices are quite decent (8€). You also have a few little things to nibble on for an aperitif. However, I also tested the restaurant’s food menu, and on that point, I really wasn’t convinced by what I ate. I therefore recommend this address more for having a drink, a coffee, or grabbing a light aperitif.

The terrace of the Péniche Marcounet

Like every summer, the Péniche Marcounet, which has been freshly renovated, opens its iconic musical terrace at the foot of the Pont Marie. The barge puts the spotlight on live music, DJ sets, and sharing cuisine. You can settle in on the pallets on the quay to enjoy a concert on the terrace with a nice, somewhat jazzy program.
Regarding food and drinks, the place offers a cocktail menu (priced between 12 € and 14 € with alcohol and 10 € for mocktails) with or without alcohol, wine, beer, and as small things to nibble on, I recommend the signature hot dog with chicken, crispy onions, and sweet yellow mustard (12 €) or the grilled keftas with a méchouia salad (17 €). And otherwise for the aperitif, you can also have spreads or small plates to share (between 6 € and 8 €).

The terrace of Les Belles Plantes

This summer restaurant, installed within the Jardin des Plantes, offers a lush setting and several sunny terraces with a bucolic atmosphere…. With its large sun-drenched terrace protected by a reed pergola and its terrace on the Jardin des Plantes side that feels like a summer lounge, Les Belles Plantes is a wonderful bubble of disconnection in the heart of the Capital. On the menu, you will find Mediterranean-inspired cuisine to be accompanied by colorful cocktails (with or without alcohol), a true moment of escape in the middle of Paris. It is, in any case, an address that I personally liked a lot, mainly for its setting, but the food is very nice too.
To taste: as a starter, sea bream ceviche (12 €) or tempura prawns (10 €); the Bowl Verde as a vegetarian main course (17 €); grilled octopus with Chimichuri sauce (25 €); for dessert, pistachio tiramisu (10.50 €).

The Penthouse of the Péniche Francette

Francette is a spot that opened in summer 2021 on a houseboat with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower! The venue offers 3 rooms inside, each with a different vibe. We tested their penthouse, which features great cocktails (around €12) and plenty of super tasty small plates to share (expect between €7 and €18 per plate). On the menu: sea bream carpaccio, breaded camembert, hot dogs, croque monsieur, strawberry cream puffs, and a “croust’ile flottante” for dessert. In short, it’s the ideal place for an aperitif dinner with friends. And once night falls, the magic of Paris kicks in, and we always gaze with wonder at the Iron Lady as she sparkles.

The terrace of Café Jacques at the Quai Branly Museum

This restaurant, managed by Musiam Paris, is located in the heart of the poetic museum garden designed by landscape architect Gilles Clément. This contemporary café offers a menu of fresh, seasonal products, mostly sourced from around Paris and its region. You can also come here for breakfast or tea time with a great selection of essential Parisian pastries. The restaurant’s terrace is particularly pleasant on sunny days, and you feel cut off from the Parisian hustle and bustle in this bucolic haven within the busy city.

The terrace of Hôtel du Collectionneur

Hôtel du Collectionneur is a very beautiful 5-star establishment in Paris that celebrates the Art Deco style. It houses a restaurant & bar, Le Collectionneur Paris, which features a lovely intimate terrace for the summer season. On the menu: very good signature cocktails (kudos to the barmaid!) inspired by the great classics of mixology. The terrace setting is very nice and the food is well-prepared with good ingredients, but I found it lacked a bit of character for my taste.
We tasted: sea bass carpaccio, pomegranate marinade and crunchy fennel (€22); white asparagus with citrus foam and shavings of Salers cheese (€18); prawns with Cajun sauce and grilled summer vegetables (€32); beef fillet with chimichurri and green beans (€45); for dessert, I recommend the pavlova (€12).

The terraces of Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg
This magnificent 5-star hotel of the Sofitel group offers no fewer than 2 terraces for the summer season. The first one is located in a charming interior patio, while the other one is spread out along the pedestrian street in front of the establishment.
The patio of Le Blossom restaurant

During the summer of 2024, we dined on the lush and intimate terrace of the hotel’s restaurant: Blossom. We started by having a signature cocktail from the Bar du Faubourg before discovering the menu by chef Anaïs Foray. Local, responsible, and seasonal products are highlighted, and the restaurant holds the Ecotable label. Fruits and vegetables come from regional farms, and the chef favors plants in her dishes.
I was particularly won over by the chef’s signature starter, the all-green salad (€22), a success! For the main course, we had the octopus in parsley sauce (€40) and the farm-raised Challans duck breast (€36), and everything was delicious. The desserts are not to be outdone as they are prepared by pastry chef Shereen Khelif. I recommend her “éventail” (€14) with flavors that change according to the seasons. When we visited, it was cherry and pistachio.

The terrace of Bar le Faubourg

During the summer of 2022, the terrace of the Le Faubourg bar, at the 5-star Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg hotel, partnered with the Venezuelan rum brand Diplomatico to offer a pop-up bar with an hacienda feel. On the menu: very good signature cocktails with tropical accents, such as La Havane (€17) or the Punta Cana (€17) which we were able to test and absolutely loved! The Bar du Faubourg also launched a menu of tapas inspired by typical Latin American dishes that pair perfectly with the Diplomático cocktails. In short, it’s the ideal place for a summery and exotic afterwork in Paris!
To try as tapas: guacamole (€12); sea bream ceviche with coconut milk (€14); spicy chicken tacos with salsa verde and cilantro (€12).

The confidential terrace of Le Camondo

I invite you to discover a charming, intimate, and confidential Parisian terrace: that of Le Camondo, nestled on rue Monceau, right next to the Nissim de Camondo Museum. As you might have guessed, I have really fallen under the spell of this beautiful address. It is the perfect place for a romantic evening in a classy and cozy setting.
On the plates, you will find seasonal bistronomic cuisine concocted by chefs Fanny Herpin and Mehdi Boucenna. We tasted the maigre tartare with strawberry and rhubarb (€24), the Camus artichoke with miso vinaigrette (€17), the house-smoked trout gravlax (€32), or even a re-visitation of the Vitello Tonnato (€29) which I found particularly successful. For dessert, we fell for the Manjari chocolate mousse with its mascarpone cream (€15).

The Fauchon terrace at the Grand Café Fauchon

This terrace belongs to the Grand Café Fauchon, located across from the Église de la Madeleine. It is perfect for a “Glam’Hours” aperitif with girlfriends, featuring cocktails (or mocktails), and in 2024, the terrace collaborated with the Maison de liqueur St-Germain. Together, they created a collection of 4 dishes and Spritzes to enjoy all summer long on the restaurant’s iconic terrace. To accompany this, the venue offered an enticing finger-food selection paired with Spritzes, signed by chef Baptiste Limouzin. For dessert, we tasted the ice cream version of Fauchon’s iconic pastry, the Bisou-Bisou (white chocolate, peppermint, red berry coulis, crispy almond biscuit).
In 2025, the terrace was completely redesigned as a true botanical garden, in collaboration with Generous Gin (please note: the photos show the terrace in 2024, as I did not have the opportunity to test it in 2025).

The garden of Yakuza by Olivier

In the heart of the 5-star hotel Maison Albar Hotels le Vendôme, opened in February 2020 in the Opéra district, hides a green sanctuary. This small, intimate, pop-up terrace is a fairly well-kept secret that we share through word of mouth. Located on rue du Helder, just a stone’s throw from the Opéra Garnier and the Place Vendôme, this luxury establishment is part of the revival of a legendary site steeped in history: the famous hotel, restaurant & cabaret: Le Lyon d’Or.
The venue also houses a very high-end sushi restaurant that I already told you about in my article on my selection of Japanese restaurants in Paris. It is also the first French address of the concept signed by the Portuguese Chef Olivier da Costa. After Lisbon, Cascais, Algarve, and Porto, this Japanese fusion concept has now arrived in Paris. As for the food, it’s top-tier, and we really enjoyed it! For the summer season, Minuty, the Tropezian wine from the capital of the French Riviera, is setting up shop in the Japanese garden of Yakuza by Olivier Paris with a selection of its vintages. At the bar, the head bartender has created an exclusive cocktail based on Minuty Prestige Rosé with fruity and refreshing notes of peach, lemon, and honey-cardamom, which I highly recommend you try!
We tasted: the sashimi with top-quality fish; the sakana fish tacos with guacamole, lime, and spices (19 €); the super original gunkans with incredible flavor combinations (22 € and 18 €); a big favorite also for the Hot Yakuza sushi with salmon, cream cheese, and teriyaki (24 €); the yellowtail carpaccio with truffle ponzu (32 €); if you are a fan, the cocktails are also delicious and very original! In short, a magnificent place to book for a special occasion (count at least 180€ for 2 people, drinks included).

The hidden terrace of Lou Cantou

This nice address, nestled in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, is located in a charming passage sheltered from the Parisian bustle. Lou Cantou offers an intimate, neighborhood atmosphere for lunch and dinner. This Parisian bistro offers a traditional but well-executed menu, and you are particularly well welcomed by Stéphane, the master of the house. An establishment with a very high likability factor that makes you want to return to share its warm and unpretentious atmosphere again. As for the food, you’ll find authentic and timeless dishes: deviled eggs; hanger steak (Montellos, Galicia) with matchstick fries; salmon tartare with matchstick fries; apple pie for dessert.

The double terrace of Loui’s Corner

This terrace is located near the Canal Saint-Martin, right in the heart of Paris, yet you have the pleasant feeling of being on the square of an unlikely village, which is part of its charm. It is quite large as it can accommodate 80 people. Another advantage of this café-bar-restaurant is that it is open continuously from 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM and offers breakfasts, brunches, burgers, salads, bowls, grilled meats, and veggie dishes. As for the food, the menu honors generous and well-executed cuisine with French and American inspirations. It is therefore a popular spot to enjoy a convivial moment at any time of the day.
To taste: sweet potato croquettes with shrimp (5.50 €); Yotam Bowl with Zaatar with bulgur, roasted eggplants, fried onions, zaatar, tahini-soy-lime vinaigrette, toasted almonds, fresh mint (15 €); the burgers are also very good (prices between 14 € and 17.50 €); for dessert, the banana mousse with white chocolate sauce is quite original (8 €).

As you know, I am one of the most faithful fans of the FrogPubs brand (feel free to check out my article to learn more), and have been for many years. It was therefore one of the first places I rushed to after the reopening of the terraces! And I chose to go to the address located in Bercy Village, firstly because it is close to my home and also because it is the one that has the largest terrace of the group (more than 400 seats on the terrace!).
On the menu: good beers as always, obviously, but also burgers, sweet potato fries that I absolutely love, and some new additions to their menu, such as gyoza (veggie or chicken curry).

Radioeat, the summer terrace of the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique

This ephemeral summer terrace, set up at the foot of the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique, belongs to the venue’s restaurant, Radioeat, which has been open since 2017. This spot offers a beautiful shaded and green terrace, perfect for the heatwave, and adorned with string lights in a guinguette spirit! It’s the perfect place to have an aperitif, lunch, or dinner, from Tuesday to Saturday, and brunch on Sundays, with the possibility of reservations and live DJ sets in the evening. Chef Thierry Bassard offers fresh, healthy, and gourmet seasonal cuisine with apparently good cocktails (which we unfortunately didn’t test as we had decided to have an alcohol-free evening that day, and yes, it happens to us!).
On rainy days, you can take refuge in the restaurant’s indoor dining room on the 1st floor, and for a final drink with music, the Le Belair bar located on the 2nd floor takes over. For the 2023 season, the terrace also hosts FIP evenings every first Wednesday of the month, from June to October.

Admittedly, the place is worth the effort and the trip can be a bit long depending on where you live, but once you arrive on site, you don’t feel like you are quite in Paris anymore. Nestled in a small port, next to La Défense and Boulogne, the Marina is set on two barges that offer: dining, swimming, relaxation, music, and boating.

The Solis restaurant terrace

The hidden terrace of the Solis restaurant is tucked away inside the Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe hotel. This small intimate and very quiet terrace is the perfect place to sip a cocktail (signature cocktails at 17€ / mocktails at 12€) and taste the Mediterranean cuisine of Chef Amine Ifakren.
I recommend getting some mezze to share (8€ per mezze) to start, and then for appetizers, we tasted the barbecue grilled octopus with zucchini cream (16€) and also the beefsteak tomato (16€). For the main course, we fell in love with the morel ravioli (23€) and we also had the catch of the day, tuna with eggplant, feta, and almonds (31€). For dessert, I really recommend the frosted lemon (12€), perfect for this summer, or the ice cream vacherin (12€).

Plantation

Plantation is basically a 7,000 m² urban farm perched on the rooftops of the 18th arrondissement, with an incredible view of the Sacré-Cœur. And in 2025, the venue opened its terrace with an exceptional panorama of the capital and a dining area offering a vegan menu created by Jimmy street-food (which I already told you about in my special article on vegetarian restaurants in Paris) with produce grown on-site. The address is therefore accessible to the general public every weekend with a committed program: open-air concerts, festivals focused on better eating, screenings, and debates on major ecological and societal issues. This project, which we really loved, stands at the crossroads of ecological, food, and citizen transitions.

Jardin21

Jardin21 is a green and cultural wasteland located in the 19th, right next to the Canal de l’Ourcq, with 1,850 m² of garden and market garden plots. On the agenda: a zen and cheerful mix of gardening, workshops for children, sports, small markets, fresh food, and a rather groovy musical vibe. You can also find a restaurant open for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday, and several bars with local and artisanal drinks (beers, juices & pastaga), organic wines and juices, and other cocktails.

The Arkose Nation terrace

I already told you about this place in a dedicated article in 2018 and this summer I’m introducing you to their summer terrace. As a quick recap, Arkose Nation is a bouldering climbing gym that opened its doors at the beginning of 2017 near Nation. It is actually a brand that owns 19 establishments in 15 major cities. With a surface area of 1,000 m² with over 200 boulders and an eco-responsible dining area, Arkose Nation offers a unique concept combining sports activities and a living space, all with a very urban spirit.
As for food, La Cantine is a restaurant and bar with local, mixed, healthy, and hearty cuisine. It offers seasonal dishes and artisanal drinks to highlight local producers who respect the earth and the produce, which allowed it to obtain the Ecotable Label. This small terrace installed in front of the establishment also serves very good local beers from the Oskare brewery, made just a few steps away.

Levallois-Perret: Polpo’s waterfront terrace

Polpo is a sunny tropical getaway on the outskirts of Paris in Levallois-Perret (no, it’s not the end of the world!) and is accessible in the simplest way via metro line 3. This seafood brasserie, set in a large barge, takes us on a seaside cruise without leaving the Seine, to which it is moored. The venue’s decor, designed by Laura Gonzalez with a ‘seaside bohemian’ spirit, is a total change of scenery and particularly successful. This floating restaurant is cleverly dressed in natural materials, ceramic lamps, rattan chairs, and lush vegetation, in a bright and warm atmosphere.
On the plate, you’ll obviously find seafood in the spotlight, and the venue also has a magnificent bar where you can simply sit down for a signature cocktail.

Rueil-Malmaison: Sapristi

This address is part of the Bistrots Pas Parisiens group, which I regularly talk about on the blog and our Insta account, and which has several addresses around Paris and mainly in the 92 area. This family bistro located in the heart of Rueil-Malmaison offers a menu renewed every four weeks that honors fresh, seasonal produce. As with all the other addresses, we weren’t disappointed; it always holds up solidly on the plate for a really top-notch price/quality ratio. And in the kitchen, we find chef Gilbert Benhouda, from the famous Parisian palace the Plaza Athénée.
We tasted: the cucumber and fresh mint gazpacho with a Greek salad condiment; the creamy tzatziki spiced with mint and dill with crunchy cucumbers; cannelloni with ricotta with spinach and candied lemon; the confit salmon steak with zucchini tagliatelle with coriander and coconut milk and curry sauce; for dessert, the ‘éclat d’orient’ with an orange blossom diplomat cream was a killer, and we also tasted the strawberry-basil, a strawberry salad seasoned with basil oil and accompanied by a wild strawberry sorbet and puffed rice.

Saint-Cloud: Quai Ouest’s terrace on the banks of the Seine

This brasserie, located in western Paris in Saint-Cloud on the banks of the Seine, reopened in 2022 with a ‘refreshed’ decoration and offers an unbeatable view of the river. On the program: a setting with a chic and friendly industrial style. On the plates, you’ll find French brasserie classics between land and sea! As a starter, I recommend the crab ravioli with turnip (15.50 €). For the main course, we tested the grilled prawns with lemon and basil linguine (24 €) and also the tuna mi-cuit with Penja pepper (24.50 €). For dessert, we chose to finish with the Quai Ouest floating island (6.50 €), all in lightness.
For the 2024 season, the address offers its Tuesday night Braséro evenings with ‘weeping tiger’ style beef (27.50 €) and Thai Jumbo prawns (29.50 €), both served with seasonal vegetables or new potatoes.

Asnières-sur-Seine: Splash

This restaurant in the Bistrots Pas Parisiens group, located in Asnières-sur-Seine in the 92 area, features an outdoor swimming pool and offers Mediterranean dishes and grilled food. It also has a spacious terrace, perfect for large groups, with several different atmospheres. It’s the perfect place to feel like you’re still on vacation. On the program: a peninsula that really feels like a beach hut, with cocktails (with or without alcohol – between 10 € and 18 €), wood-fired grilled dishes (between 26 € and 59.50 €), and gourmet desserts (12 €).

Puteaux: Mama Secret Garden

During the summer season, the Mama Shelter La Défense opens its secret terrace hidden on the 2nd floor of the hotel, surrounded by the skyscrapers of La Défense. A very nice setting for an apéro/afterwork in the heart of this hotel chain that we love and talk about regularly on the blog and our social networks. On the program: some summer cocktails, notably a Spritzer Bar, and boards and dips to share (we tested the cheese board, hummus, and guacamole).
