What could be more pleasant than a lovely terrace for the sunny days?! And of course, we’ve been waiting for this so impatiently all year that even hit-or-miss weather hasn’t stopped me (but I imagine you too?) from starting to test out terraces from the very first rays of sun. In this article, I offer you a selection of the best Parisian spots for summer when it comes to terraces. I also update this post regularly to add my new finds and to keep the information for all the terraces current. For the sake of simplicity, I have also organized this article and my selection of terraces by Parisian arrondissement.

The terrace of Le Grand Véfour

Le Grand Véfour is undoubtedly an iconic spot in Parisian life, for its gastronomy as much as for its literary history (Colette was a regular at the address because she had her apartment nearby), artistic side, or even its political one. Opened in 1784, this restaurant has traversed the centuries, comfortably nestled in the magnificent setting of the Palais-Royal gardens (a place that, by the way, did not always have a great reputation until the mid-19th century, as it housed many gambling houses and other libertine amusements).
In the summer, as every year for the past few years, the restaurant has permission to set up its terrace under the colonnades of the Palais-Royal in addition to a few tables that overlook the interior of the garden. For me, it’s a truly memorable moment because it’s often my first terrace of the year! Plus, the good news is that this part of the terrace under the peristyle is permanent and comes back every summer. And the advantage is that this terrace, sheltered by the arcades, is a great spot regardless of the weather!

On the plates, you’ll find cuisine that is simpler than before, but still just as good and with softer prices. Le Grand Véfour is indeed returning to its roots as a place “to meet up” from 7:30 AM to 11:00 PM, seven days a week with more simplicity and friendliness (even if the service is still just as impeccable). Special mention for the desserts, which are still just as sublime!
For drinks, let the establishment’s sommelier guide you for a small glass of wine from the menu to pair with your dish. Otherwise, at the bar, the establishment offers a lovely cocktail menu, and for those who don’t drink alcohol, I tested one of the non-alcoholic cocktails on the menu for you, and I must say it was really very good.

The secret terrace of Le Roch Hôtel & Spa

It is always a pleasure to return to the restaurant of Le Roch Hôtel & Spa (which I tell you about very regularly on the blog and also on my Instagram account @mellebonplan) to discover the establishment’s new features! Since last summer, the superb hidden terrace of the establishment has become greener and is now the Vegetable Garden. And in 2024, it is hosting the Maison tropézienne Vilebrequin for the summer season with its new chef Frédérick Lyard. To celebrate the return of summer, the latter is offering a gourmet and colorful menu that places the flavors of the South, its vegetables from the Vegetable Garden, its aromatic plants, and its sun-drenched fruits at the heart of the plate. On the program is simple but refined cuisine with excellent products and perfectly mastered cooking (special mention for the meat and fish dishes). I am always just as much a fan of their colorful plates, which already make you want to savor them so much when you see them arrive on the table!
In short, as every year, the terrace of Le Roch Hôtel & Spa is a little gem that we only reveal to people we love, because we know they will have a wonderful time there, a break in the heart of the capital, and that they will feast on the establishment’s cuisine, which has never disappointed us.

The very Parisian terrace of Café du Louvre

If you are looking for a terrace with a very Parisian atmosphere and close to the Louvre Museum, I recommend the terrace of Café du Louvre. The welcome is very friendly, and the “minute” detox juices are quite decent (€8). You also have some little things to nibble on for an aperitif. However, I also tested the restaurant’s food menu, and on this point, I was really not convinced by what I ate. I therefore recommend this address more for having a drink, a coffee, or a light aperitif.

The Péniche Marcounet terrace

Like every summer, the freshly renovated Péniche Marcounet opens its iconic musical terrace, at the foot of Pont Marie. The barge puts the spotlight on live music, DJ sets, and sharing-style cuisine. You can settle down on the pallets on the dock to enjoy a concert on the terrace with a lovely, slightly jazzy program.
As for food and drinks, the venue offers a cocktail menu (priced between 12 € and 14 € with alcohol and 10 € for mocktails) with or without alcohol, wine, beer, and as for small snacks, I recommend the signature hot dog with chicken, crispy onions, and sweet yellow mustard (12 €) or the grilled keftas with a méchouia salad (17 €). And otherwise, for apéritif, you can also grab some spreads or small plates to share (between 6 € and 8 €).

The La Terrasse des Belles Plantes terrace

This summer restaurant, located within the Jardin des Plantes, offers a lush setting and several sunny terraces with a bucolic atmosphere…. With its large sun-drenched terrace protected by a reed pergola and its terrace on the Jardin des Plantes side that feels like a summer lounge, Les Belles Plantes is a wonderful bubble of disconnection in the heart of the Capital. On the menu, you’ll find Mediterranean-inspired cuisine to accompany colorful cocktails (with or without alcohol), a real moment of escape in the middle of Paris. In any case, it’s an address that I personally really liked, mainly for its setting, but the food is very lovely too.
To taste: as a starter, sea bream ceviche (12 €) or shrimp tempura (10 €); the Bowl Verde as a vegetarian main (17 €); grilled octopus with Chimichuri sauce (25 €); for dessert, the pistachio tiramisu (10.50 €).

The Penthouse of the Péniche Francette

Francette is an address open since summer 2021 on a barge with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower! The venue offers 3 indoor rooms with 3 atmospheres. We tested their penthouse with great cocktails (about 12 €) and plenty of super good small plates to share (count between 7 and 18 € per plate). On the menu, sea bream carpaccio, breaded camembert, hot dog, croque monsieur, strawberry cream puffs, and floating island for dessert. In short, the ideal place for an apéritif dinner with friends. And when night falls, the magic of Paris works, and we always watch the iron lady sparkling with wonder in our eyes.

The Café Jacques terrace at the Musée du Quai Branly

This restaurant, managed by Musiam Paris, is located in the heart of the museum’s poetic garden, which was designed by landscaper Gilles Clément. This contemporary café offers a menu of fresh seasonal products, mostly sourced around Paris and its region. You can also come here for breakfast or tea time with a nice selection of essential Parisian pastries. The restaurant’s terrace is particularly pleasant for sunny days, and you feel cut off from the Parisian hustle and bustle in this bucolic interlude within the frantic city.

The Hôtel du Collectionneur terrace

The Hôtel du Collectionneur is a very beautiful 5-star establishment in Paris that celebrates the Art Deco style. It houses a restaurant & bar, Le Collectionneur Paris, which has a beautiful, intimate terrace for the summer season. On the menu, very good creative cocktails (bravo to the barmaid!) inspired by the great mixology classics. The terrace setting is very nice, and the food is well-made with good products, but I found it lacked a bit of character for my taste.
We tasted: sea bass carpaccio, pomegranate marinade, and crunchy fennel (22 €); white asparagus with citrus espuma with shavings of Salers (18 €); shrimp with Cajun sauce with grilled summer vegetables (32 €); chimichurri beef fillet and green beans (45 €); for dessert, I recommend the pavlova (12 €).

The Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg terraces
This magnificent 5-star hotel from the Sofitel group offers no fewer than 2 terraces for the summer season. The first is nestled in a charming interior patio, while the other spreads out on the pedestrian street in front of the establishment.
The patio of the Blossom restaurant

During the summer of 2024, we dined on the lush and intimate terrace of the hotel’s restaurant: Blossom. We started by having a signature cocktail from the Bar du Faubourg, before discovering the menu by chef Anaïs Foray. Local, responsible, and seasonal products are highlighted, and the restaurant carries the Ecotable label. The fruits and vegetables come from regional farms, and the chef prioritizes plant-based ingredients in her dishes.
I was particularly won over by the chef’s signature appetizer, the all-green salad (22 €), a true success! For the main course, we had the octopus in persillade (40 €) and the free-range Challans duck fillet (36 €), and everything was delicious. The desserts are not to be outdone, as they are prepared by pastry chef Shereen Khelif. I recommend her fan (14 €) with flavors that change with the seasons. During our visit, it was cherry and pistachio.

The Bar le Faubourg terrace

During the summer of 2022, the terrace of Le Faubourg bar, at the 5-star Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg hotel, partnered with the Venezuelan rum brand Diplomatico to offer a pop-up bar with an hacienda vibe. On the program: very good creative cocktails with tropical accents, such as La Havane (17 €) or the Punta Cana (17 €) which we were able to test and which we absolutely loved! The Bar du Faubourg also launched a menu of tapas inspired by typical Latin American dishes, pairing perfectly with Diplomático cocktails. In short, the ideal place for a summer and exotic afterwork in Paris!
To taste in tapas: guacamole (12 €); sea bream ceviche with coconut milk (14 €); spicy chicken tacos with salsa verde and cilantro (12 €).

The confidential terrace of Camondo

I suggest you discover a charming, intimate, and confidential Parisian terrace, that of Camondo, nestled on rue Monceau, right next to the Nissim de Camondo museum. As you have gathered, I truly fell in love with this beautiful address. It is the perfect place for a romantic evening in a classy and cozy setting.
On the plates, you will find seasonal bistronomic cuisine concocted by chefs Fanny Herpin and Mehdi Boucenna. We tasted the meagre tartare with strawberry and rhubarb (24 €), the Camus artichoke with its miso vinaigrette (17 €), the homemade smoked gravlax trout (32 €), or even a revisited version of the veal Tonnato (29 €) which I found particularly successful. For dessert, we fell for the Manjari chocolate mousse with its mascarpone cream (15 €).

The Fauchon terrace at Grand Café Fauchon

This terrace belongs to the Grand Café Fauchon, located across from the Église de la Madeleine. It is perfect for a Glam’Hours happy hour with girlfriends, with cocktails (or mocktails), and in 2024 the terrace was in collaboration with the Maison de liqueur St-Germain. Together, they created a collection of 4 dishes and Spritz to enjoy all summer long on the restaurant’s iconic terrace. To accompany this, the venue offered a tempting finger-food selection of food and Spritz pairings signed by chef Baptiste Limouzin. For dessert, we tasted the ice cream version of Fauchon’s iconic pastry, the Bisou-Bisou (white chocolate, peppermint, red berry coulis, crispy almond biscuit).
In 2025, the terrace was completely redesigned into a true botanical garden, in collaboration with Generous Gin (please note, the photos show the terrace in 2024, as I did not have the opportunity to test it in 2025).

The garden of Yakuza by Olivier

In the heart of the 5-star Maison Albar Hotels le Vendôme hotel, opened in February 2020 in the Opéra district, hides a haven of greenery. This small, pop-up and intimate terrace is a spot that is still quite confidential and spread by word of mouth. Located on rue du Helder, a stone’s throw from the Opéra Garnier and the Place Vendôme, this luxury establishment is part of the revival of a legendary place steeped in history: the famous hotel, restaurant & cabaret: Le Lyon d’Or.
The place also houses a very high-end sushi restaurant that I already told you about in my article on my selection of Japanese restaurants in Paris. It is also the first French address for the concept signed by the Portuguese Chef Olivier da Costa. After Lisbon, Cascais, Algarve and Porto, this fusion Japanese concept has now set up shop in Paris. As for the food, it’s top-tier and we truly enjoyed ourselves! For the summer season, Minuty, the Tropezian wine from the capital of the Côte-d’Azur, has set up in the Japanese garden of Yakuza by Olivier Paris with a selection of its vintages. As for the bar, the head bartender has dreamed up an exclusive cocktail based on Minuty Prestige Rosé with fruity and refreshing notes of peach, lemon, and honey-cardamom, which I highly recommend you try!
What we tasted: sashimi with top-quality fish; sakana fish tacos with guacamole, lime, and spices (19 €); super original gunkans with incredible flavor combinations (22 € and 18 €); also a big favorite for the Hot Yakuza sushi with salmon, cream cheese, and teriyaki (24 €); the yellowtail carpaccio with truffle ponzu (32 €); if you are a fan, the cocktails are also delicious and very original! In short, a magnificent address to book for a special occasion (expect at least 180€ for 2 people, drinks included).

The hidden terrace of Lou Cantou

This friendly address, nestled in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, is found in a charming passageway sheltered from the Parisian hustle and bustle. Lou Cantou offers an intimate, neighborhood atmosphere for lunch and dinner. This Parisian bistro offers a traditional but well-executed menu, and you are particularly well welcomed there by Stéphane, the host. An establishment with a very high likability factor that makes you want to return to share its warm and no-fuss atmosphere again. As for the food, you’ll find authentic and timeless dishes: deviled eggs; hanger steak (Montellos, Galicia) with matchstick fries; salmon tartare with matchstick fries; apple tart for dessert.

The double terrace of Loui’s Corner

This terrace is located near the Canal Saint-Martin, right in the heart of Paris, yet you get the pleasant feeling of being in the square of an unlikely village, which is part of its charm. It is quite large as it can accommodate 80 people. Another advantage of this cafe-bar-restaurant is that it is open for continuous service from 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM and offers breakfasts, brunches, burgers, salads, bowls, grilled dishes, and veggie options. As for the food, the menu celebrates generous and well-executed cuisine with French and American inspirations. It is therefore a popular spot to enjoy a convivial moment at any time of the day.
To taste: sweet potato croquettes with shrimp (5,50 €); Yotam Bowl with Zaatar with bulgur, roasted eggplant, fried onions, zaatar, tahini-soy-lime vinaigrette, toasted almonds, fresh mint (15 €); the burgers are also very good (price between 14 € and 17,50 €); for dessert, the banana mousse with white chocolate sauce is quite original (8 €).
The extra plus: I tested this terrace during weather alternating between rain and sun and I can confirm that part of the terrace is well-sheltered!

The secret terrace of Laïa Voltaire
This address is the Mediterranean stopover of the Fuga brand, which has several Parisian locations. Laïa Voltaire is set at the back of a courtyard, in a former neighborhood distillery, and offers a very pleasant terrace/garden at the back of its restaurant for the summer season. As you know, I am a loyal follower of the FrogPubs brand (feel free to check out my article to learn more) and have been for many years. It was therefore among the first places I rushed to after the terraces reopened! And I chose to go to the location in Bercy Village, partly because it’s close to where I live and also because it has the largest terrace of the group (over 400 seats on the terrace!).
On the menu: good beers as always of course, but also burgers, sweet potato fries which I love, and new additions to their menu, gyozas (veggie or chicken curry).

Radioeat, the summer terrace of the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique

This ephemeral summer terrace, set up at the foot of the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique, belongs to the establishment’s restaurant, Radioeat, which has been open since 2017. This spot offers a beautiful, shaded, and plant-filled terrace perfect for heatwaves, decked out with string lights for a guinguette feel! It is the perfect place to have an aperitif, lunch, or dinner from Tuesday to Saturday and brunch on Sundays, with reservations possible and live DJ sets in the evening. Chef Thierry Bassard offers fresh, healthy, and gourmet seasonal cuisine with apparently good cocktails (which we unfortunately didn’t test because we had decided to have an alcohol-free evening that day, and yes, it happens to us!).
On rainy days, you can take refuge in the restaurant’s indoor dining room on the 1st floor, and for a last drink with music, the bar Le Belair located on the 2nd floor takes over. For the 2023 season, the terrace also hosts FIP evenings on the first Wednesday of every month, from June to October.
We tasted: for appetizers, the house gazpacho and fromage frais (9 €) and the guacamole mezze, eggplant caviar, Greek yogurt, Lebanese tabbouleh, hummus, fried pita bread (13 €); for main dishes, the salmon gravlax (raw marinated), herb salad, lemon condiment, and potatoes (25 €) and the caramelized pork ribs, BBQ sauce, coleslaw (19 €); for dessert, the strawberry rhubarb compote on Breton shortbread, Bulgarian yogurt ice cream (11 €); for drinks, the house iced tea with lemon and fresh mint (5 €) and the Lemon Kefiz, a soda made from Kefir ferments and an infusion of organic fruits, naturally sparkling and refreshing (6 €).

La Marina, Les Maquereaux

10 years after launching its 1st barge concept on the Seine, La Cie Les Maquereaux is launching a new chic and family-friendly spot by the water in the 16th arrondissement in 2025. Admittedly, the place must be earned and the journey can be a bit long depending on where you live, but once you arrive, you no longer feel quite in Paris. Nestled in a small port, next to La Défense and Boulogne, the Marina is located on two barges that offer: dining, swimming, relaxation, music, and boating.

The terrace of the Solis restaurant

The hidden terrace of the Solis restaurant is nestled inside the Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Hotel. This small, intimate, and very quiet terrace is the perfect place to sip a cocktail (signature cocktails at 17 € / mocktails at 12 €) and taste the Mediterranean cuisine of chef Amine Ifakren.
I recommend getting a few mezzes to share (8 € per mezze) to start, and then for appetizers, we tasted the barbecue grilled octopus with zucchini cream (16 €) and also the beefsteak tomato (16 €). For the main course, we fell in love with the morel ravioli (23 €), and we also had the catch of the day, tuna with eggplant, feta, and almonds (31 €). For dessert, I really recommend the frosted lemon (12 €), perfect for this summer, or the ice cream vacherin (12 €).

Plantation

Plantation is essentially a 7,000 m² urban farm perched on the rooftops of the 18th arrondissement, offering a breathtaking view of the Sacré-Cœur. In 2025, the venue opened its terrace with an exceptional panorama of the capital and a dining area that offers a vegan menu developed by Jimmy street-food (whom I’ve already mentioned in my special article on vegetarian restaurants in Paris) using ingredients grown on-site. The address is open to the general public every weekend with a socially engaged program: outdoor concerts, festivals focused on better eating, screenings, and debates on major ecological and societal issues. This project, which we really loved, stands at the crossroads of ecological, food, and civic transitions.

Jardin21

Jardin21 is a green and cultural wasteland located in the 19th, right next to the Canal de l’Ourcq, with 1,850 m² of garden and market crops. The venue’s program includes a zen and joyful mix of gardening, workshops for children, sports, small markets, fresh food, and a rather groovy musical atmosphere. You’ll also find a restaurant open for lunch and dinner, from Wednesday to Sunday, and several bars serving local and artisanal drinks (beers, juices & pastis), organic wines, juices, and other cocktails.

The terrace of Arkose Nation

I had already mentioned this place in a dedicated article in 2018 and this summer I’m presenting their summer terrace. To give a quick recap, Arkose Nation is a bouldering climbing gym that opened its doors at the beginning of 2017 near Nation. And it is actually a brand that owns 19 establishments in 15 major cities. With an area of 1,000 m² with over 200 boulders and an eco-responsible dining area, Arkose Nation offers a unique concept combining sports activities and a living space, all in a very urban spirit.
On the food side, la Cantine is a restaurant and bar with local, fusion, healthy, and hearty cuisine. It offers seasonal dishes and artisanal drinks to support local producers who respect the earth and the product, which allowed it to obtain the Ecotable Label. This small terrace set up in front of the establishment also serves very good local beers from the Oskare Brewery made just a few steps away.

Levallois-Perret: The terrace on the water at Polpo

Polpo is a sunny tropical stopover on the edge of Paris in Levallois-Perret (no, it’s not the end of the world!) and accessible in the simplest way by metro line 3. This seafood brasserie in the form of a large houseboat takes us on a cruise by the seaside without leaving the Seine, to which it is moored. The decor of the place, designed by Laura Gonzalez in a “seaside bohemian” spirit, is a total change of scenery and particularly successful. This floating restaurant is skillfully dressed in natural materials, ceramic lamps, rattan chairs, and lush vegetation, in a bright and warm atmosphere.
On the plate, we obviously find seafood in the spotlight, and the venue also has a magnificent bar where you can just sit down for a signature cocktail.

Rueil-Malmaison: Sapristi

This address is part of the Bistrots Pas Parisiens group, which I regularly talk about on the blog and our Insta account, and which owns several addresses around Paris and mainly in the 92. This family bistro located in the heart of Rueil-Malmaison offers a menu renewed every four weeks that honors fresh and seasonal products. As with all the other addresses, we were not disappointed; it always holds up firmly on the plate for a quality/price ratio that is truly top-notch. And in terms of cuisine, we find chef Gilbert Benhouda, former chef at the famous Parisian palace, the Plaza Athénée.
We tasted: the cucumber and fresh mint gazpacho with a Greek salad condiment; the creamy tzatziki seasoned with mint and dill with crunchy cucumbers; the ricotta cannelloni with spinach and candied lemon; the confit salmon steak with zucchini tagliatelle with coriander and coconut milk and curry sauce; for dessert, the ‘éclat d’orient’ with an orange blossom diplomat cream was a killer, and we also tasted the strawberry-basil, a strawberry salad seasoned with basil oil and accompanied by a wild strawberry sorbet and puffed rice.

Saint-Cloud: The Seine-side terrace of Quai Ouest

This brasserie, located in the western suburbs of Paris in Saint-Cloud along the Seine, reopened in 2022 with a “refreshed” decor and offers an unbeatable view of the river. On the menu: a friendly, chic industrial setting. On your plates, you’ll find classic French brasserie dishes inspired by both land and sea! As a starter, I recommend the crab ravioli with turnips (15,50 €). For the main course, we tested the grilled prawns with lemon and basil linguine (24 €) and the semi-cooked tuna with Penja pepper (24,50 €). For dessert, we chose to finish with the light and airy Quai Ouest floating island (6,50 €).
For the 2024 season, the venue is offering its Tuesday night Braséro evenings with “crying tiger” style beef (27,50 €) and Thai-style Jumbo prawns (29,50 €), both served with seasonal vegetables or baby potatoes.

Asnières-sur-Seine: Splash

This restaurant, part of the Bistrots Pas Parisiens group and located in Asnières-sur-Seine in the 92 area, features an outdoor swimming pool and offers Mediterranean dishes and grilled food. It also provides a spacious terrace, perfect for large groups, with several different vibes. It’s the ideal place to feel like you’re still on vacation. On the menu: a peninsula with a real beach hut feel, featuring cocktails (with or without alcohol – between 10 € and 18 €), wood-fired grilled dishes (between 26 € and 59,50 €) and gourmet desserts (12 €).

Puteaux: Mama Secret Garden

During the summer season, the Mama Shelter La Défense opens its secret terrace hidden on the 2nd floor of the hotel, surrounded by the skyscrapers of La Défense. A very nice setting for an apéritif/afterwork in the heart of this hotel chain that we love and talk about regularly on the blog and our social media. On the program: a few summer cocktails, notably a Spritzer Bar, and boards and dips to share (we tested the cheese board, the hummus and the guacamole).
