My favorite bakery addresses in Paris

If you follow my blog, you must know that I am a foodie. This wasn’t always the case, as my parents surely still remember a period—quite a while ago, it is true, but still—where every meal was a battle to make me swallow the food necessary for my good health… Today, it’s the exact opposite; I am a foodie and a connoisseur of fine food, and in the end, there are very few things I don’t eat. Since I am such a naughty foodie, today I offer you a little guide to my favorite bakery addresses, gleaned here and there, in Paris and around the capital. And I keep updating this article as I make new discoveries!

Sain is the bakery of chef Anthony Courteille. A trained baker, he transformed his restaurant into a traditional bread oven! The address aims to rediscover the virtues of the bread of the past, and to do so, it uses flours from local peasant cereals. These varieties from before 1950, saved from the industrialization of agriculture, allow for more digestible breads with a beautiful distinct taste. Their gluten content and glycemic index are also lower. On the other hand, these flours require very long fermentation times and the use of natural sourdough. And frankly, we have tested many products from Sain Boulangerie, and everything is absolutely delicious!

Also good to know: the latest bakery location on Rue des Gravilliers offers a space with 30 seats that invite you to enjoy breakfast, an afternoon snack, lunch, or brunch on-site.

Must try: all the brand’s delicious breads, of course (12 different varieties); the chocolate bread ice cream.

This 100% plant-based bakery-patisserie, opened in the 17th arrondissement in September 2024, belongs to an adorable couple, baker Maxime Raïmi and his pastry chef partner Florence Neveux. Furthermore, in 2025, they were awarded a fine 9th place in the Île-de-France organic country bread competition, among 64 participants. The couple is truly committed to promoting more sustainable eating. Their address, La Mauvaise Herbe (in homage to the eponymous song by Brassens), offers gourmet products where flavor remains king and everything is homemade, following the seasons. They also prioritize ingredients from organic farming and, if possible, local sources. We really loved their breads and pastries, which are delicious.

This brand now has 4 locations in Paris and one in Levallois-Perret. Its commitment: to produce, with respect for the raw materials, a quality bread that has meaning, with a 100% organic range of breads. They are sold by weight, in pieces or by the slice, and delivered every day by bike, straight out of the oven. From the traditional organic sourdough Country bread to the German Bread with its 6 cereals, through to the Rice Buckwheat bread made with organic rice and buckwheat flour or even the Einkorn wheat with its subtle hazelnut taste… the range of Archibald breads is wide and varied.

The specialty of this charming address in the 11th arrondissement within the Popincourt village, not far from the Parmentier metro station, is to offer products based essentially on rice flour (and other cereals), naturally gluten-free. The bakery offers bread, biscuits, and pastries based on their own flour produced in the Camargue and the Po Valley. If you are in the neighborhood, I advise you to go try the establishment’s cream puffs, which, without lying, are among the best I have had the opportunity to taste. Soft and fresh, they are a real treat!

The plus side of the place: a decor designed by a duo of architects that offers, in addition to the sales area, about ten seats on the terrace for sunny days and about fifteen inside to enjoy the sweet smell of the bakery and the soothing and warm atmosphere that reigns at Chambelland.

This address, located in the 14th arrondissement right next to Parc Montsouris but on the border with the 13th (where we live), is one of our favorite addresses near home to go pick up good bread (we love their rye loaf). It is the bakery of master artisan Lionel Bonnamy and it has won numerous awards such as the best Galette of Greater Paris or the best AOP croissant in 2019.
