Gourmet food delivery at home

by Melle Bon Plan
Published: Updated:

I often talk about gastronomy on the blog as you may have noticed, because I am a fine gourmet as one of my colleagues would say. However, generally speaking, I mostly talk to you about restaurants, bars, pastries, in short, places outside to eat and drink well. Today I am going to make an exception to this rule by talking to you about all the good things you can enjoy while staying quietly at home thanks to home delivery, because it sometimes feels good not to leave the house too… It was already useful before, but obviously since the arrival of Covid our lifestyles have completely changed and it has become even more essential than before!

In this article, which I update regularly, you will therefore find plenty of websites, brands, and concepts that offer home delivery of good products to help us in our daily lives!

Quitoque, cooking basket

Quitoque is a cooking basket service delivered to your home every week (at home or in Click&Collect, everywhere in France which is extremely practical). The quantities of meals per week are completely flexible according to your needs (from 2 to 9 recipes per week out of 16 to choose from) and a very important point, the subscription can be suspended whenever you want for as long as you want and resumed just as easily!

Basically, you sign up, choose the number of people in the household, the number of meals you want per week, and then select your recipes for the following week(s).

The basket is composed of fresh, seasonal, French-origin products, preferred labels and of good quality I found, as well as detailed recipe cards, to cook your own meals for the week.

This allows you to prepare your meals without having to find new recipes and also to test preparations that you might not have thought of on your own. I was particularly pleasantly surprised by the spätzle salad (photos below) which was delicious. The recipes are generally quite simple and fairly quick to make (about 30 minutes).

Delivery box with fresh ingredients: chicken, fish, vegetables, Spätzle pasta, bread.
Dish of cut potatoes and zucchini, ready to cook.

This saves time (especially in planning weekly meals) and also produces less waste, because you use all the planned ingredients. In short, Quitoque is a good solution for preparing good home-cooked meals without losing too much time and rediscovering the pleasure of cooking without any hassle.

Thanks to Quitoque and Hivency for letting us test this service for 1 week.

For 4 recipes for 2 people for one week: €59 (that is €7.38 per plate and obviously prices are degressive if you take more recipes)

Avekapeti

Avekapeti is a start-up that offers a 2.0 canteen to allow companies and individuals to order their home-cooked meals for the week starting at €5.90! The concept is simple, home-made only, with fresh products, without additives or preservatives, prepared by chefs undergoing retraining and coached by the Michelin-starred chef Christian Conticini. The result is very satisfying, it’s simple but well done, you enjoy yourself and the prices are very affordable for a good lunch during your lunch break.

The little extra: recently Avekapeti is attempting the bet of delivery in reusable glass containers for regular customers (via a deposit system) in partnership with Pyxo for a more eco-responsible approach to delivery.

The famous Chicken with morel mushrooms from the rotisserie Dufrénoy

For the record, the first rotisseries appeared at the beginning of the 16th century, with the creation of mechanical turnspits. Over time, this tradition has been perpetuated and roasting is therefore ancestral.

However, even if roast chicken is a historical and traditional dish, it is not always easy to find a quality one…

At Dufrénoy, this practice dates back more than 30 years, with specific preparation and seasoning, combined with cooking over the rotisserie flame which gives the house poultry a tasty flavor that unfortunately cannot be reproduced at home (yeah I also find it a shame, but well…).

Created in 1985, the Rôtisserie Dufrénoy now has 4 shops in the heart of Paris with a service for ordering roast chickens online and delivery in less than 45 minutes in Paris and the surrounding area.

Meat dish with cream sauce and hash browns for delivery.

My advice: heat it up in the oven for more flavor.

Price: €12 for 1 portion for 1 person of chicken with morel mushrooms

Alancienne, organic product delivery

Alancienne is a service for home delivery of ultra-fresh and organic products directly from small local producers in Paris and Lyon. It is also a company labeled as a social and solidarity economy enterprise, which works every day to have the strongest possible positive impact, which I always appreciate! I actually discovered the service back in 2015, the date of my first Alancienne test, and I was immediately convinced.

On the site, we find products that change according to dates with fruits and vegetables, but also dairy products, eggs, butcher shop, bakery, and grocery items.

What I liked:

  • The origin of products that come from small producers and are seasonal!
  • Free delivery from €30 of purchase
  • The possibility also to order fresh products
  • The ease of navigating on the website and placing an order

What I liked less:

  • The deposit system (€1.30 / packaging) for cold product packaging, it is free for 6 weeks but then you have to pay for it. You can return it to the Alancienne delivery person, but mine left (running, apparently) before I had time to open the door…
Basket of fresh organic products: cauliflower, potatoes, fruits, cheese and drink.

Alancienne

The great deal: with code MLLEBONPLAN you will have €10 discount (only for new customers and for a minimum order of €30)

And otherwise with the referral code GAELLE22028 you will have €5 discount (only for new customers and for a minimum order of €20)

“Caisse qu’on mange”, organic ingredient home delivery site

This site composes balanced menus and delivers the organic ingredients necessary for their realization. Then all that’s left is to cook! The recipes are easy (even I managed!) and are prepared in less than 30 min normally which is very practical.

The order must be placed before Thursday evening 11pm, for delivery the following Tuesday at a relay point or at your home.

My little crate recipes : Chard with feta, a super simple recipe and vegetables that I really wasn’t used to cooking in the end. Finally, it’s very easy to prepare and what’s more, it’s super good; Guinea fowl supreme with fresh grapes and semolina; haddock with coconut milk; autumn omelet;

Price: the duo crate I tested (4 meals for 2 people) for €69

The novelty: the launch of the “solo” crate (4 meals for 1 person / €39), more adapted for people living alone.

Meal delivery box: fish, chicken, fresh fruits and vegetables.

Les Partisans du Terroir

The site les partisans du terroir has chosen to promote French organic or biodynamic local products. It sells seasonal fruits and vegetables, wine, honey, flour, preserves, fresh juices… Via the site’s online shop you can order crates of fruits and vegetables (which vary according to arrivals / €21 for the large one and €10.50 for the small one) but also more or less individually with portions of a specific product.

The idea of the site is to highlight small Norman producers who produce quality products with love. All are certified organic farming and many of them go much further. Some work notably in permaculture and agroforestry.

Alongside this, the site also sells products other than fruits and vegetables, such as organic preserves from Karine & Jeff or a beautiful selection of natural wines but also other drinks like Gimber which is a non-alcoholic drink based on Peruvian ginger.

Basket of organic vegetables: carrots, zucchini, lettuce, tomatoes, eggplants, apples, melon, and grocery products.

My opinion: I really found that the delivered products were of great quality and I particularly appreciated the zero-waste effort of the site which delivers its products in a large plastic bin which leaves empty with the delivery person after home delivery. This helps reduce packaging to a minimum and I find that very well thought out.

Funky Veggie

The concept of Funky Veggie is a subscription for one meal per week (called panyeah), ready to be cooked in 30 minutes and delivered to your home.

How it works: Funky Veggie provides the ingredients and seasonings in appropriate quantity + a very detailed recipe card (steps, preparation time, number of people + some tips) for the creation of a 100% organic vegetarian dish. The delivery is obviously done in ecological packaging for the small detail but which has its importance.

For my part I had all the ingredients to make miso glazed eggplants. I followed the recipe more or less even if I moved away from it a bit at times because I didn’t really have the equipment to do it (the oven cooking part with my combi-oven seemed too long to me), but I had no trouble adapting the recipe to my constraints and the result was tasty.

I also liked discovering products that I don’t usually use such as miso or graffiti eggplants for example.

Funky Veggie

The great deal: every week, photo contest on the instagram of @funky_veggie with the hashtag #funkyveggie to have a little gourmet surprise in your panyeah for the following week.

Other great deal, with the promo code funkymademoisellebonplan your first panyeah is at €19 instead of €24!

Good to know: there is no commitment and you stop the subscription whenever you want!

Price: €24 for 2 people per week (delivery costs included)
