For a change of scenery, this Sunday I’m presenting a brunch in Lyon (yes, because I am a bit of a local too), which I tested during my short stay for the Nuits Sonores festival.
The setting of the Quai des Arts brunch is already quite atypical, as it’s located inside Les Subsistances, a space for confrontation and experimentation dedicated to new performing arts languages: dance, theater, new circus, and music.
An inner courtyard in the Subsistances complex allows for sunshine in the summer, but I really like the upstairs room, with its high ceilings, exposed beams, and a magnificent view of the Saône river.

The brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday and is presented as a large buffet in that famous upstairs room (which is also more practical for settling in to have brunch). The buffet is extremely varied (savory and sweet) and restocked very regularly until late (from what I observed).
Ultimately, a brunch that I found very pleasant for the setting as well as for the variety and good quality of its buffet. I do, however, advise you to book ahead, because it was fully booked when we went.
Only small downside: the restrooms, which had a rather unpleasant smell during our visit.
