Les Foodies, the neo-bistro in the Marais

Today on the blog, I would like to talk to you about a Parisian restaurant that both my favorite photographer and I fell in love with: Les Foodies. This neo-bistro with its classy, modern decor is located right in the heart of Paris and the Marais district, not far from the Hôtel de Ville. The establishment was created by two former students of the Cordon Bleu school, Alex Kogan and Davide Galloni, a Milanese chef with Thai origins (I mention this because you can really taste the gastronomic mix of these different cultures on the plate).

This beautiful partnership results in a restaurant with an art-deco aesthetic, featuring a play of mirrors and reflections that I really loved, and a melting-pot cuisine that brilliantly blends ingredients, flavors, and references from world gastronomy (Asian influences, French classics, Mediterranean dishes…). We first discovered this restaurant in 2018, and I returned again in February 2022.

If you add to that a short menu (you know I am very attentive to this kind of detail) and extremely friendly service (half-French, half-English for the chef’s explanations), you will easily understand why we fell in love with this address! I also really liked the presentation of the dishes on the menu; no fuss with the names, the dishes are described only with the main (fresh and seasonal) ingredients that compose them.

To taste:

  • For the starter, the langoustine tartare with burrata and tomatoes (€24) is an absolute killer!!! Yes, I was very enthusiastic about this dish…
  • I would also like to add that the bread served at the table is high quality, which I find important to specify because it is often the weak point of some restaurants that serve average bread with refined dishes, and it’s often a shame because it ruins the whole experience from my point of view… Here, that wasn’t the case.
  • With simpler ingredients, but just as successful, I also recommend the egg with asparagus and parmesan (€14) as a starter.
  • For the main course, the risotto with mushrooms and peas (€20) was also very well prepared, and it is a vegetarian dish for those who are interested.
  • As for meat, we tried the duck breast with cabbage (of several types and cooked in different ways) and Kimchi (€28). A very surprising dish with unique flavors (for us, at least) that I found really interesting.
  • For dessert, we let the chef advise us and went on a taste exploration with a raspberry tartlet (€10) that wasn’t quite so classic, as it was deconstructed and featured turmeric pastry cream…
  • You can obviously pair your meal with a glass of French wine, as we did (ask the sommelier or the chef for advice!).
