My tips for the Beaujolais Nouveau!

A little idea for an outing tonight, if you have nothing planned and the hysteria surrounding the Beaujolais Nouveau doesn’t scare you, or simply if you are of an affable nature. Because on this Thursday, November 21st, as every year, the traditional Beaujolais Nouveau celebration evening returns all over France. And even if you aren’t Japanese, you can still rejoice if your heart desires. Wherever you are, take a look online and you will surely find a little party near you!

For my part, since discovering Beaujolais during the 2021 Bienvenue en Beaujonomie event, I must say that I have completely changed my mind and outlook on this appellation, and I am looking forward to celebrating this event in style this year! The Beaujolais Nouveau festival is an opportunity to (re)discover the great diversity of the “Nouveaux”: traditional and vibrant vintages full of pleasure, crafted by recognized houses and wine cellars; brilliant wines made by young winemakers; a pinch of rosé; lighter and more subtle Beaujolais Nouveaux; and others that are more full-bodied…

My favorite spots in Paris to celebrate the Beaujolais Nouveau

For Parisians, I’ve put together a small selection of great places to celebrate the Beaujolais Nouveau, and I update this article every year with new addresses!

“Vive le Beaujolais” Menu at La Bonne Franquette

Housed in a 16th-century building in the heart of old Montmartre, La Bonne Franquette lives up to its name, keeping alive the long Montmartre tradition of gaiety, conviviality, good food, and fine wines, true to its motto “Love, Eat, Drink, and Sing.” To celebrate the Beaujolais Nouveau, the venue is offering—from November 17, 2022, to December 17, 2022—not only a selection of seven red Beaujolais Nouveaux and even three rare white Beaujolais, but also a “Vive le Beaujolais” menu for only €30, which highlights products from the Lyon region.

This menu is offered with a “food & Beaujolais pairing” option for €18 for 3 glasses of vintages from the Beaujolais vineyards, including a white and a “traditional method” sparkling brut.

La Dalle en Pente

This spot located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris is one of the Bistrots Beaujolais: establishments that are true ambassadors of Beaujolais wines in France and throughout the world. It is a restaurant/wine bar that selects only organic and/or natural estates and vintages. As for the food, the chef offers a short, simple, and well-made menu with a selection of good products, if possible organic as well.

Oh Vin Dieu

Another “Bistrot Beaujolais” address that I had the opportunity to discover in 2022, during an evening in collaboration with the Lyon-based charcuterie Bobosse, which is based in the Beaujolais region. The place is very nice and we spent a very convivial evening there, well-watered with Beaujolais!

Happy Beaujolais Nouveau to everyone!
