Since I work and live near Place d’Italie, I’m always looking for nice places to have lunch, dinner, or just grab a drink in the neighborhood. I have already been several times to Café d’Italie, a trattoria that recently opened right around the Place d’Italie, serving various dishes with Italian flair. It’s a great spot, for example, to enjoy a spritz during happy hour on their heated terrace.
But this time, I went with my blogger friend Mathilde from Stay Tuned For Life (who, by the way, is the author of these lovely photos) for a girls’ lunch. First of all, I’ve always liked the industrial design decor, the spacious feel (the establishment is a solid 175 m²), and the comfortable benches. As for the food, you’ll find good, fresh products, most of which naturally come from Italy.

To try:
- The pizzas, which are the house specialty, featuring dough aged for 3 to 4 days and then baked in a wood-fired Neapolitan-style oven. For my part, I went for the Parma (mozzarella, Parma ham, and gorgonzola / €14.50), which I found good, though I thought it lacked a bit of greens. Next time, I’ll try a “greener” pizza if possible…
- Another specialty is, of course, the pasta, and we tested the Penne Parmigiana (€12.50), a vegetarian version with vegetables and cheese. But I must admit I was more impressed another time when I had the gnocchi…
- For dessert, I highly recommend you try their tiramisu (€7), which I find truly, really, very, very good (I think I could come back just for that).
