Ammazza, the Parisian trattoria

This new spot in the heart of the 11th is the work of the same team that previously opened the restaurant Zazza (though I haven’t tested that one yet). It’s called Ammazza, which means “wow” in the Roman dialect—a fitting name for the spirit of the place.

On the menu of this restaurant dedicated to lovers of Italian gastronomy: pizza, signature cocktails, antipasti, insalata, pasta del giorno, aperitivo, and Caffè (sounds better in Italian, right?).

The plates feature fresh products sourced from local Italian producers: Parma ham, Apulian cheese, and flour and ovens from Naples (authentic Neapolitan style).

I really liked the casual yet trendy atmosphere of this establishment, with its green Italian-style storefront. The service is efficient and friendly, and you can really tell the team puts their heart into it.

To try:

  • For a starter, we shared a truffle burratina (€9), a real treat!

  • As for pizza, we tried the Figata (€21) with 24-month aged San Daniele ham, a burratina in the center, tomato, arugula, and Parmigiano Reggiano aged between 24 and 26 months, and we didn’t regret it at all! Plus, this pizza is super photogenic, don’t you think?

I think all the pizzas are excellent there. In fact, we went back for lunch at Ammazza in December 2019 to host a giveaway on my Instagram account. It was the perfect opportunity to try other pizzas from the menu (see photos below)!

  • For a bit of variety, we also tested the pasta of the day: gnocchi al tartufo, which translates to “truffle gnocchi” (€17).

  • Of course, for dessert, I couldn’t resist trying the house tiramisu (€8). It disappointed me slightly because I found it a bit too soaked in coffee for my taste… But then again, in the world of tiramisu, everyone has different preferences…

  • My favorite photographer chose the torta al limone (€8)—because it always sounds better in Italian, once again. Everything was accompanied by a little espresso, Italian style (€2.50).

  • As for wine, the establishment offers a small selection of Italian wines (obviously!) by the glass (between €5.50 and €7). It was a great opportunity for us to discover some new appellations.

The little extra: a heated terrace with a unique twist (built in a former garage) to enjoy a cappuccino or a spritz.
