My Lunch at the Trianon Palace in Versailles

It was last year, during the Goûts d’Yvelines event, that I had the chance to discover the cuisine of chef Simone Zanoni, who works at the Trianon Palace in Versailles, an establishment that holds 2 Michelin stars, no less!

This 4-star hotel, iconic to Versailles, is located right on the edge of Louis XIV’s royal estate, in an absolutely unique setting.

Luxury dinner at Trianon Palace: glasses, cutlery, and bread on a black table.

We did not have lunch in the establishment’s Michelin-starred Gordon Ramsay restaurant (perhaps that will be for another time), but in the Trianon’s brasserie, La Véranda, which is more casual and, above all, more affordable.

The latter boasts a magnificent dining room and a beautiful terrace for sunny days, with a direct view of the Palace of Versailles Park, giving it a quite exceptional setting.

I even had the opportunity to go into the kitchen at the end of the meal for a short workshop making tortellini with Simone Zanoni, since the chef is of Italian origin, as his name suggests.

As for the cuisine, the chic La Véranda brasserie offers contemporary continental cuisine with a visible focus on seasonal vegetables and produce.

The daily menu at the La Véranda brasserie:

  • As an amuse-bouche, small shrimp bites and crunchy vegetables.

  • Pumpkin cream scented with truffle oil, burrata, and porcini mushrooms to start the meal.

  • Roasted duck breast, parsnip puree from the King’s Kitchen Garden, and braised vegetables for the main course.

  • For dessert, a vanilla and pecan hazelnut praline with iced coconut and passion fruit. Special mention for this dessert, where the combination of textures and flavors was more than successful.
