A seafood-infused lunch at La Marée Jeanne

This beautiful spot in the Montorgueil neighborhood takes us out to sea for a breath of fresh air, which is truly invigorating when you spend your weekends in the Parisian gloom…

La Marée Jeanne is a restaurant entirely dedicated to fish and seafood with a bistronomic spirit, revisiting classic recipes using these products.

On the plate, it’s all about blending, marrying flavors, and textures. They take risks and strive to uncover culinary sensations a bit different from what you would usually find around seafood products.

It is, in any case, a great address for explorers, fish lovers, freshwater sailors, and deckhands of all kinds. The latter will feel right at home, as the restaurant’s decor is also very nautical.

Another great aspect of this place is the open kitchen that takes center stage, allowing you to watch the chefs at work.

In terms of food, the original idea of the menu is to offer a normal version of each dish, as well as a smaller “tapas” version, which lets you taste more things and, of course, at a lower cost.

Must-try:

  • The sea bass tartare with seaweed, oysters, and emulsion (€9 for a small portion). A house classic that you should try with your eyes closed; it would be a crime not to taste it!

  • The Galician sea urchin royale, with seaweed whipped cream, candied lemons, and borage cress (€8 for a small portion). I was completely seduced by this whipped cream and the combination of flavors.

  • The classic soufflé mousseline and its lobster sauce (€10 for a small portion). As someone from Lyon, I couldn’t pass this dish by. A delight of lightness.

  • The langoustine thin tart, button mushrooms, and shellfish mousse (€23 for a normal portion).

  • The grilled octopus with barigoule artichokes (modern style, onions, smoked bacon, and white wine), guindillas, and red rice risotto. For true octopus lovers, because it’s definitely quite crunchy!

  • The Crêpes Suzette with candied orange butter and Grand Marnier (€8). These crêpes have a real taste of Brittany…

A little bonus: the lovely vaulted cellar of the establishment, which provides extra seating because space can become scarce upstairs very quickly.

Another good idea to note is the inclusion of food and wine pairing suggestions on the menu for certain dishes.

Price: there is also a Lunch Tide menu for €18 which allows you to try 3 small-format plates from Monday to Friday / wines by the glass between €5 and €9.
