My favorite street food spots in Paris

by Melle Bon Plan
Published: Updated:

As you know, I really love the concept of street food, which I have already mentioned several times on the blog. Today, I’m sharing several Parisian addresses on this theme, all very different from one another. On the menu: a food court in the 13th arrondissement with several street food stalls, a brand new concept also in the 13th, then a place centered around duck with a modern twist, a spot offering Brazilian street food, Japanese street food, and finally, a great place to eat authentic Greek pitas. As usual, I will naturally keep this article updated to add new addresses I test over the years.

At this address, you’ll find fusion cuisine between Jamaican street food (notably the famous Jerk Chicken, a chicken marinated and grilled in the Jamaican style over charcoal) and London street culture. Must-tries: chicken popcorn, their popcorn-style chicken, highly addictive (€7); Jamaican patties, savory turnovers filled with shredded jerk chicken (€9); the jerk chicken burger (€12); classic jerk chicken (€8); for a side, I recommend the rice and peas, rice with red beans and coconut milk (€5.50), or the potatoes with jerk spices (€5.50); for dessert, you can try the praline rice pudding with peanuts—not light at all, but very indulgent (€5).

This brand, which has 2 addresses in Paris (one in the 11th and the other in the 15th), offers street food centered around pastrami. Smoked Meat means exactly that, and smoked meat is a deli specialty originating from Montreal, Quebec, but which is a craze, particularly in New York, with its famous pastrami sandwiches. Here, you’ll find house-made pastrami with ultra-indulgent recipes, including delicious pastrami sandwiches and also pastrama (the same thing with veal instead of the usual beef).

We tasted: the smoked beef with shredded beef and veal bacon (€12.90); the fifty with pastrami and pastrama (€13.90); the hot dogs (between €6.90 and €8.90); for a side, the cheddar pops (€4.90); desserts (€3.90) like the brownie or the tiramisu.

Clubber is a restaurant founded by Antoine and dedicated to club sandwiches following their academic recipe: 3 slices of sandwich bread, 2 layers of filling, 1 house-made sauce, all toasted to order! The menu offers five club sandwich recipes, including a vegetarian club and a build-your-own club, accompanied by three savory sides and four desserts. Everything is obviously 100% house-made. To always highlight seasonal products, the address renews its menu every two months.

This small address located in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, a stone’s throw from the Moulin Rouge, offers us a culinary journey to Miami. The place, run by a charming couple, isn’t very large, but the decor is cozy and immerses us directly in Florida. El Lechón honors traditional Floridian street food recipes, and in particular the Cuban sandwich, a street food specialty in Florida imported by the Cuban community settled there. I recommend you try the classic version of this sandwich, the El Cubano (€12). The sandwiches are made with “pan cubano,” a bread found there that is difficult to find in France, so the couple running this small place has it made to measure for them by a baker. For a side, I recommend sharing the Cuban Nachos with shredded pork (€8) or the croquetas (€6).

Compadre is a restaurant opened in 2024 on the Grands Boulevards and offers a menu centered around South American street food. This address is the 2nd spot from chef Felipe Camargo and his partner after Selva, which I already mentioned on Instagram and which I loved. Here, you can feast on Latino street food with sandwiches like the fried chicken one or the Choripan, an Argentine specialty here with a house-made chorizo sausage. For a side, we tested the house fries with spicy mayonnaise, but also the cassava fries (€4 each). For dessert, we were tempted by a crunchy meringue with guanabana cream (€7), and for coffee lovers, don’t miss their specialty coffee (€2.50 for an espresso), which is really very good. For a soft drink, I highly recommend you try the house Chicha Morada (€7), a non-alcoholic drink made from purple corn.

I am taking you to discover Venezuelan street food at Aji Dulce, a small, super nice address set in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. First off, I recommend you try the homemade non-alcoholic drinks like the parchita, a passion fruit juice, or the papelon, a sugarcane juice (€4.90 for 35cl of juice). For starters, we had the tequenos, fritters with Venezuelan fresh cheese (€2.50 each). Then you must taste the house specialty, the arepas, sandwiches made with a traditional Venezuelan white corn bread that is very crispy because it’s baked to order. Although, I warn you, it’s not simple to eat elegantly… but it’s very good! Also try the 3 house-made sauces served with the recipes, which are delicious!

This small, super nice street food address offers sandwiches made with english muffins and then filled with carefully selected fresh products! Everything here is house-made, and the “mouflet” is made solely of French, local, seasonal, and sustainable products.

Mister Do-San, Japanese street food

Mister Do-San is a new address set up on Rue de Paradis in the 10th arrondissement of Paris since 2023. The place revisits the Japanese sando, this Japanese sandwich with soft shokupan bread, by pairing it with Tunisian and Mediterranean recipes. Plus, the setting is quite nice with a Japanese manga style and a few seats to enjoy your sando.

We tasted: the Blata Tuna (€13) with shokupan bread, tuna, méchouia, lemon, a soft-boiled egg, and harissa mayonnaise; the Djaja (€14.50) with shokupan bread, roast chicken, cherry tomatoes, red onions, lamb’s lettuce, tomato sauce, and lemon mayonnaise; for a side, I recommend the Besbess (€2.50), fennel with olive oil and fleur de sel, or the house-made fries (€2.50); for dessert, the address offers a sweet version of the sando, the Habibi (€4) with house-made spread; for a drink, we took a house-made lemonade (€3.50).

Lolilol Chimney Cake

Lolilol, located on Rue de Turenne in Paris, invites you to discover the Chimney Cake, a Transylvanian cake that we mostly find today in Prague or Budapest and which is slowly arriving in Paris. This cake is made from a leavened dough that is rolled onto a spit and, after baking, leaves the exterior caramelized and the interior still very soft.

At Lolilol, the traditional version of the cake is revisited in a savory version. We tasted the Hot Dog version or even the pizza version. On the sweet side, I recommend you try the classic version of the Chimney Cake with just cinnamon sugar, which you dip into the address’s delicious toppings and sauces, which are very good.

Iconik Paris, food court of the 13th

I am very happy to be able to tell you about this great place that opened its doors at the beginning of 2022 in my neighborhood, right next to Place d’Italie in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, within Italik, the extension of the Italie Deux shopping center! Iconik Paris is a new festive food court, 100% pop-culture, set on the Left Bank of the Seine for once, and it feels good! The place offers a very nice program throughout the week with workshops, blind tests (every Sunday at 6:30 p.m.), karaokes, bingos, and other events. In short, a place to discover!

You’ll find a bar but also several street food stalls like: Little BaoBei; Père & Fish; Magna; Kantine by Kumo; the Quéquetterie.

Poggi Cup

Poggi Cup is a street food address opened in 2022 by Jonathan and Sébastien in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, right next to the Tolbiac University and the Olympiades metro. On the menu: a place with pop decor featuring an innovative concept of hot or cold cups centered around healthy, indulgent, and well-cooked seasonal recipes to enjoy on-site or to take away. The little plus of the address is the savory mousse or the sweet foam, whipped in a siphon, which garnish the cups and give that addictive, “come-back-for-more” taste…

To taste: For a savory cup, I recommend the black Poggi (€13), which I loved, with a chestnut and vegetable charcoal crumble, sautéed mushrooms, chicken fillet, Saint Félicien cheese, and mushroom mousse; the Poggi classic (€10) with parmesan crumble, smoked bacon, onion compote, confit potatoes, and bacon-emmental mousse; for a sweet cup, I recommend the lemon one or the revisited tiramisu.

The good deal: for students, there is the student poggi made with potato and chicken for €7.50!

Canard Street Paris

Last September, the Lille brand Canard Street opened its first Parisian restaurant at 16 Rue des Petits Champs. Here, it is obviously duck that is highlighted in this restaurant very close to Palais Royal, but in a Street Food version: on the menu: burgers, legs, tartares, or crispy bites.

The brand pays attention to the sourcing of its ingredients and sources exclusively from qualified French producers. The products offered in the grocery section also come from French producers favoring traditional manufacturing, which, as you can imagine, is definitely not displeasing to me.

To taste:

  • To taste a little of everything, you can get the Canard Street board (€15) or the sausage rillettes board to share (€10).
  • I also recommend you taste the burgers, particularly the one with fig confit and a baker’s bun (€12). Everything is accompanied by potato wedges cooked in duck fat, obviously. Light, we tell you!
  • Also worth noting for drinks: very good craft beers from the Vieux-Lille brewery.

Thanks to Canard Street for this invitation.

ONdA Street Food do Brasil

This small address that offers Brazilian street food (one of the few in Paris), is installed in the historic heart of Paris, Rue des Écouffes in the Marais. On the program for this place, flamboyant colors and decibels beating at the rhythm of samba. The restaurant’s specialty, where people mainly come for takeout, are tapiocas, crepes made with cassava flour (so gluten-free), native to the country.

To taste: the veggie version tapiocas with the Carlinhos crepe (€10) or the shredded chicken version Duda (€12); the Pao de queijo (€4 for 3), little cheese breads; combos with tapioca crepe + coleslaw + drink starting at €14.90.

Agapi the Greek street food

There are few good Greek restaurants in Paris, I find, and even fewer that offer Greek-style street food with products imported directly from there. So, I really liked this small address, the second shop of which I tested, which opened at the beginning of the year not far from the first one, from what I understood. The decor is particularly nice and super instagrammable, as you can see via the post I made on my account @mellebonplan.

Interior Agapi Greek Street Food with customer and decoration in Greek colors.

To taste:

  • We start with some typically Greek sparkling drinks, from the brand Epsa (€2.50 per can).
  • Then heading to the pitas, these Greek sandwiches presented rolled with plenty of good ingredients! I recommend the one with Halloumi (a grilled Greek cheese) if you want to test something original and also the Keftedes with beef, parsley, and fresh mint, which I found super good!
  • I also strongly advise you to test the house-made fries which are delicious (€2.90)!
  • For dessert, I advise you to taste a Greek pastry (€2.90) to stay within the theme!

Price: Agapi menu with 1 pita + 1 side €9.90 for classic and €12.50 for mega / Agapimou menu with 1 pita + 1 side + 1 drink €11.90 for classic and €14.50 for mega
