La Petite Mangerie, tapas and drinks in the Marais

Nestled in the heart of the Marais, La Petite Mangerie (little sister to La Mangerie, which I’ve already mentioned on the blog), is the perfect spot for a friendly aperitif on the terrace while enjoying sharing portions, tapas-style.

Inside, you’ll find the same decor as La Mangerie, with a cozy atmosphere, stone walls, fruit trees, and colorful cushions.

But what really won me over is the quality of the tapas served, all made with fresh produce! In addition to the must-have cheese and charcuterie boards, there are much more original homemade portions offered by chef Adrian Calvo based on market produce.

On the menu: yellow pollock carpaccio with chorizo, lemongrass shiitake broth, salmon with cardamom, duck tartare, dried figs and baby potatoes, sea bream ceviche, or even albacore tuna with ricotta and sesame…

Just like at La Mangerie, ordering is done through a small card system you check off based on your cravings and appetite (once again, I appreciate the playful and relaxed aspect of the process).

Must try:

  • Iberico ham board, aged 22 months (€14.60).

Plate of sliced raw ham with country bread as an accompaniment.

  • Beef tataki (€12): tataki is a Japanese preparation technique that involves searing meat or fish very quickly; the outside is cooked but the inside remains raw.

  • Piquilles stuffed with fresh cheese (€9.50), simple but effective!

  • The strawberry and white chocolate tiramisu (€9) for dessert, a must-have (yes, I’m a tiramisu addict!).

Another great point about this address is the Spanish, French, Argentinian, and even Chilean wines, selected by the owner, with an interesting highlight on a wine of the month (when I went, it was a white wine from Ardèche, the Saint-Péray).

The little extra: the establishment’s terrace, facing directly onto rue de Bretagne, with a warm atmosphere that turns into a romantic spot at nightfall when the tables are lit only by candlelight. The perfect spot for summer evenings.
