Today in my “great finds” section, which I love to post on weekends, I really want to share one of my favorite spots that happens to be in my neighborhood. I’ve known and frequented this place for several years, and I’ve been meaning to tell you about it for a long time, but it always got pushed aside for something else… Today, that injustice is somewhat rectified! L’Avant-Goût, a restaurant of French tradition, is located at the beginning of Rue Bobillot in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.
Expertly run for years by Christophe and Rufine Beaufront, it is certainly one of the best tables in the area. Not to mention that the lunch menu is undoubtedly the best value for money in the neighborhood. Indeed, the lunch menu “around a soup,” offers the soup of the day, the dish of the day, a glass of wine, and a coffee for €15. It’s simply unbeatable for this level of culinary quality. The soup is always wonderful (and as someone who loves making “homemade soups,” I know what I’m talking about), and the main course is inventive, provided you let go and trust the chef.

For the rest, the restaurant also offers a menu on the slate with starter, main course, and dessert for €35, which will allow you to discover the menu and the house specialties, such as the Pork Pot-au-feu. The desserts, which are very original, are also well worth the detour if you are a fan of sweet treats.
It is also worth noting that the menu changes quite frequently with the seasons, which is pleasant and appreciated. If you are near Place d’Italie, you know what you have to do… I also highly recommend booking if you want to go there; it is almost always full, for both lunch and dinner, and yes, that’s the price of success!
