The Salon du Chocolat 2014 (giveaway inside)

Published: Updated:

Created by Sylvie Douce and François Jeantet, the Salon du Chocolat is a unique cultural, gourmet, and artistic event dedicated to Chocolate. It serves (among other things) to reveal the best chocolatiers and innovations in the world of chocolate.

This year, the Salon du Chocolat, which will take place from October 29 to November 2, 2014 in Paris, celebrates its 20th anniversary.

From Pierre Hermé to Pierre Marcolini, via JP Hévin, Christophe Michalak, Hugues Pouget, François Pralus (stand D7), or even Philippe Conticini… The greatest names and the young generation of chocolate and pastry have been showcasing themselves for 20 years at this landmark venue.

On the program: Master classes, demonstrations, book signings, the “Chocolate, Universal Heritage” exhibition (in partnership with the Gourmet Chocolate Museum) featuring monumental or exclusive works by iconic designers, educational workshops for kids and adults, culinary competitions, a series of conferences, etc.

Exclusively worth noting: Richard Orlinski will create a 4-meter-tall Chocolate Kong in a duo with Jean-Paul Hévin.

Melle Bon Plan’s little selection:

  • A highlight of this show is the famous fashion show of chocolate dresses (2 shows per day, every afternoon at 3 PM and 5 PM), with over 100 dresses this year. For the occasion, Chantal Thomass will recreate her “La Religieuse” dress. However, creations by Courrèges and Jean-Louis Scherrer will also be there to discover.
  • Victoire Finaz, a “chocologist” in her own terms, will host a conference on wine & chocolate pairings, on Sunday 11/2 at 1:45 PM.

Unifying, nomadic, personalized, rare, experimental, innovative, sensual, comforting, addictive, raw, stimulating, refined, artisanal, spicy, captivating, industrial, festive, or even regressive, chocolate has a bright future ahead of it, rich in new consumption rituals.
