Enjoy high-quality meats at Bang!

It was on a beautiful Saturday in June that I went to discover Bang! with my friend Cathy, a restaurant specializing in meats from around the world and natural wines (a very lovely pairing, by the way).

This restaurant, ideally located on the Canal Saint-Martin, is run by François Di Giugno and Imina Nial. In nice weather, it features a lovely terrace decorated with red and white checkered tablecloths and colorful guinguette-style light bulbs for summer evenings.

On the menu, meats that take you on a journey across all continents, including Canadian bison, Australian kangaroo, Argentine Black Angus beef, Camargue bull, or Salers and Aubrac beef from the UK or Switzerland.

On the menu, you can choose between dishes concocted by François or cook them yourself with friends on the paraillades – those heated lava slabs that have become the emblem of Bang!

I personally tested a beef-specialty paraillade and I highly recommend this option. I really appreciated the fun aspect of the experience (comparing the appearances and textures of the meats, as well as the taste and tenderness of each) and I was completely won over by the quality of the meat.

Honestly, I’m not a big meat-eater, but in the end, I think that’s often due to the general lack of quality in meats. In this case, I thoroughly enjoyed it; the meats were flavorful, tender, and even though they were all beef, the geographical origin of the animal significantly changed the taste on the plate.

As for Cathy, she jumped into the adventure by testing the kangaroo burger… Well, it was brave of her and it’s an experience to try at least once in your life, but honestly, I found the taste of this meat to be, how should I put it… strange.

The little extras:

  • on-site, you will be advised on natural wines, chosen by the hosts specifically for their pairing with the meats offered. The best!
  • their homemade fries are super good, I can only highly recommend them!
  • the desserts are also homemade and end the meal on an extremely light note (no, no, I am not being ironic…).

In short, whether you are a meat lover or not, I warmly recommend this establishment to help you reconcile with your carnivorous side and/or discover the variety of meats that exist around the world.
