If there is one season of the year where it is really worth trying the brunch at the house Carette, specifically the one located in the Marais (another location exists at Trocadéro), it is definitely during the summer.
In fact, I will admit quite simply that for me, the main attraction of this brunch lies in the charming terrace of the establishment, located under the arcades of the magnificent Place des Vosges.
The downside is the price of the brunch: €28 for a brunch that is certainly of very good quality and in a reasonable quantity, but all in all, very classic and a bit expensive if you only look at what is on the plate.
On the menu for this brunch:
- a hot drink (coffee, house tea, or hot chocolate)
- a fresh squeezed fruit juice (orange or grapefruit)
- a homemade pastry (pain au chocolat, croissant, brioche)
- toast served with butter and jams
- scrambled eggs of your choice (plain, with cheese, ham, tomato, or herbs)
Basically, you have to be ready to pay for the setting. But at the same time, what a setting! This is also why I advise you to test this brunch in the summer, to appreciate and fully enjoy the place.
For my part, I think that once you go there knowing what to expect, you can have a very good time.
Regarding the welcome, the waitress who took care of our table was charming, patient with our questions, and quick with service. A real treat for Paris.
Another small detail to know: you cannot reserve for this brunch, so you will need to be an early bird (for a Sunday, I mean) or come during the peak summer season (at the time of our visit in August, it was very quiet).
