Gemini Family Italian Restaurants

Gemini Family is a collection of restaurants with an Italian flair and a beautiful family story: that of Julia and Julien Zanon, a young couple who created this concept, inspired by their home country, Italy. The group opened its first location in 2012 and now has 7 addresses across Paris and the Ile-de-France region. I first discovered their establishment near Les Halles in 2017, and I later visited their Saint-Ouen location that same year.

Gemini Family Les Halles

On the menu at this location, you’ll find fresh Italian products from several different regions and generous cuisine (you won’t be hungry when you leave, I promise, unless you’re a bottomless pit!) based on family recipes. This delightful spot with a peaceful atmosphere features a hodgepodge decor, with totally mismatched chairs and tables, clearly sourced from antique dealers. Some of these chairs actually reminded me of the ones at school when I was little.

As for the tableware, all the jars in the dining room belonged to Julien’s grandmother, who used them to store vegetables from her garden. I really loved the idea of giving a second life to old objects (I didn’t study archaeology for nothing!) while also preserving family history.

To taste:

  • For starters, we tried a small Antipasti di Gemini platter for 2 to share (€18). It was very fresh and varied, perfect for opening our appetites!
  • For the main course, I tried the fresh homemade Mafaldines pasta with truffle cream (€18), simply sublime and a very generous serving!
  • My favorite photographer enjoyed a Roman Bufala e Parma pizza (€16.50) with Bufala Campana and 24-month aged Parma ham. The dough was very crispy and the products were fresh, so we approve!
  • For dessert, as per our usual habit, we shared a classic tiramisu (yes, I’m very traditional when it comes to tiramisu) which was very good (€7.50), creamy and not too caffeinated. Honestly, I could have eaten a second one, actually…
  • And of course, we finished with a little Italian-style coffee, the famous espresso, to help us digest this delicious meal.

The little extra: small selection of Italian wines by the glass.

Note: for those with dietary restrictions, pasta and pizza are available in gluten-free versions (with a supplement of €1 or €3).

Gemini Family Saint Ouen

Gemini Family opened its 3rd restaurant in the new eco-district of the Saint Ouen docks in 2017. The house has several restaurants with an Italian flair and it is also a beautiful family story: that of Julia and Julien Zanon, a young couple who created this concept, inspired by their home country, Italy.

This new location features sober, bright, and contemporary decor while keeping the vintage tableware that I really liked at the Les Halles address.

To taste:

  • For a change from pasta and pizza, my favorite photographer decided to try the Valdostana (€18), a breaded veal milanese with melted mozzarella and 24-month aged Parma ham, a real treat!
  • For my part, I stayed very classic and opted for a pasta dish, the linguine Norma with tomato sauce, eggplant, and ricotta (€14).
  • For dessert, I couldn’t miss their very good tiramisu classico (€7); you know by now that I’m a real fan of this Italian sweet…
  • Otherwise, they also have a good panna cotta (€6) for those who enjoy it.
Focaccia, Parma ham, fusilli pasta with tomato sauce and basil.

The little extra: a small selection of Italian wines by the glass (between €5 and €8).

Note: for those with dietary restrictions, pasta and pizza are available in gluten-free versions (with a supplement of €1 or €3).
