This article is the logical follow-up to my Parisian journey, which started several years ago, to unearth the best burger spots in the capital, and there’s no shortage of them!
The O.B.U concept (which stands for Organisations des Burgers Unis), is to offer Parisians a restaurant specializing in exotic burger recipes inspired by cuisines from around the globe.
Nestled in the heart of the 10th arrondissement, just a stone’s throw from the Canal Saint-Martin, O.B.U offers a tasty voyage through its burgers of the world in a friendly and quite cozy setting, I must admit.
There is even a small room hidden in the basement of the establishment with a zenithal opening looking out over the main dining area.
On the menu for these homemade burgers: flame-grilled meats by Hugo Desnoyer, local vegetables, and fresh, round buns delivered every morning.
Must-try:
- The Mexican El Conquistador burger, paprika bun with bell peppers, corn, and chorizo combined with avocado, aged cheddar, and Emmental (11.80 €).
- The American Road 66 burger, sesame seed bun with aged cheddar, onion, and grilled bacon (11.80 €).
The plus side: the fries that accompany the burgers are thin and crispy, just how I like them, and the meat is cooked exactly as requested (meaning not medium when I order rare).
- For dessert, I recommend sharing (or you might explode from eating too much) an OBU-style cheesecake, plain or with peanut butter (personally, I didn’t dare try the peanut butter, too stressful for my arteries…).
- To wash down the burgers, we were tempted by a beer brewed in Paris, La Parisienne (6 €)! But you can also opt for the establishment’s international brews, with Argentinian, Belgian, Jamaican, or even American beers.
Pro tip: lunch special from Monday to Friday with burger + fries or coleslaw for 12.80 €
