My favorite spots for focaccia and Italian sandwiches in Paris

by Melle Bon Plan
Published: Updated:

I regularly share great Italian addresses in our beautiful capital on the blog because I absolutely love Italian gastronomy. After a few more tastings, discoveries, and so on, I am back with a new selection and new places in Paris focusing on Italian cuisine, along with a guide to the best focaccia and Italian sandwiches in the city! In short, a kind of guide to the best places to eat focaccia and panini in Paris.

Naturally, as with most articles of this type, I update it regularly based on the new tests I perform to make sure you always have the latest trendy addresses!

This spot, located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris near Rue Mouffetard, offers Italian street food via a Neapolitan specialty: the saltimbocca! The “bread” of this sandwich is made from pizza dough (homemade, of course) and it is served with warm dough but with cold ingredients, unlike other Italian street food sandwiches. The place is tiny but very charming. We tasted one of the ephemeral autumn recipes which was very good: the Vesuvio Speck with speck, fior di latte mozzarella, and sautéed mushrooms with garlic and parsley (€12.50). And for a classic recipe, we tried the Toledo Bresaola with bresaola, parmesan shavings, cherry tomatoes, and arugula (€12.90).

This Italian cafeteria opened its doors in 2025 in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. Here, the specialty is the panino, an Italian sandwich made from a round ciabatta bread and served toasted. The polpette version (€14.50) pays homage to the owner’s grandmother. You can also find more summery recipes like the bresaola one (€13.50), but what’s nice is that all recipes can also be made in a vegetarian version. To finish on a sweet note, we were tempted by a treat, a pistachio maritozzo (€5), a Roman dessert with a bun filled with whipped cream. And finally, don’t miss trying the coffee cream, halfway between an espresso and an ice cream. Apparently, Italians are crazy about it. A must-try!

Rosata – Gourmet Focaccia

This sandwich/focaccia shop located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris was opened by Rosalie in October 2023. This lunchtime street food spot offers original recipes based on a soft and crispy focaccia bread (in partnership with the superb SAIN bakery, which I have already mentioned on the blog). The idea is that while paying homage to Italian gastronomy (through the bread but also by highlighting raw products), the address beats a new path, and Rosalie loves exploring everything you can put in a sandwich, while also adapting to what the seasons have to offer! The result is a small, cozy place with super original recipes and a menu that changes every 3 months. Each time, there are 4 different recipes, including 50% vegetarian options.

L’Atelier Fratelli

This charming little address offers specialties of focaccia and pizzas by the slice. The place is quite small, so I advise you to book ahead or go early, because the locals have clearly figured it out and come back regularly… I also really liked the warm, eclectic decor of this restaurant and its truly friendly atmosphere. Everything is obviously homemade, right down to the bread used to make the focaccias, which is prepared every day.

To taste:

  • The focaccia, of course, especially the Tartufo recipe made with black truffle cream and Rostello (herb-cooked ham). The focaccias are served with a mix of young shoots, cherry tomatoes, balsamic cream, and walnuts (€12).
Triangular focaccia sandwiches, ham and arugula on a board.
  • Pizza al Taglio slices, with the Bufala recipe based on tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella, and arugula, and the Capra recipe based on honey, goat cheese, and arugula (2 slices €16). The pizzas are served with an arugula and cherry tomato salad.
Cut Italian focaccia with arugula, tomatoes, mozzarella, and pesto, served on a board.
  • For dessert, the Gianduja Tiramisu (hazelnut chocolate), my own little guilty pleasure… (€5).
  • My favorite photographer tried the panna cotta with its red fruit coulis (€5).

You can accompany your meal with a glass of Italian wine; there is a lovely selection on the blackboard (between €4 and €5).

The great deal: lunchtime menus (which also work on weekends!) with focaccia + salad at €10 / focaccia + salad + dessert at €13 / focaccia + salad + pizza slice at €15 / Pizza menu with 1 slice for €6, 2 slices for €11, 3 slices for €15, 4 slices for €19, and 5 slices for €22.50 or 1 pizza slice + salad + dessert €10

The little extra: home delivery available

Novettino

This brand specializing in focaccia has 3 addresses in Paris. For my part, I went to the 9th arrondissement location during my lunch break, and I must say that the address’s success is obvious, especially at that time of day, of course. The over-the-counter takeaway service (there is no room to sit in the 9th arrondissement address) is quite fast, and I left with my focaccia under my arm to go sit in a park. I must say that I really enjoyed it; the bread is delicious and crispy, and the products are truly high quality!

Toscanino

Toscanino is a small address located at the top of Rue Mouffetard and specialized in traditional Tuscan sandwiches, the schiacciata, a traditional Tuscan bread seasoned with olive oil and salt. It reminded me so much of my trip to Tuscany in 2019 with my favorite photographer!

The place offers a variety of these sandwiches with good Italian products (I really liked the Lorenzo with Tuscan salami with fennel seeds: finocchiona), and one of their specialties is also the traditional porchetta (a wood-fired roasted suckling pig). And, of course, there is also a vegetarian version if you don’t eat meat. In short, a nice place for a taste of Tuscany in the heart of Paris.

To taste: in terms of drinks, the establishment offers a small selection of Italian wines and Italian beers (between €4 and €5).

Focaccia Club

This little place opened in 2022 on the pretty Rue des Petits Carreaux. The brand has 3 addresses in total in Paris (the other two are on Rue du Faubourg Montmartre and Rue de Sèvres). You will find focaccia (a type of flatbread with a fluffy crumb, made fresh every morning before being toasted to order), of course, but also a whole selection of good Italian products (cold cuts, burrata, mozzarella, olive oil, tiramisu, pesto…) to enjoy on-site, on the terrace, or at the pretty communal table with white tiles found at the back of the shop, or to take away!

To taste:

  • The house focaccia, which is obviously their specialty (between €7 and €9.50): I recommend the John Burrata with Parma ham, truffle stracciatella, mushrooms, arugula, and olive oil (€9.50) or the Veggie Soprano with stracciatella, pesto alla genovese, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, and basil (€9.50).
  • Very nice selection of cold cuts as well (platter to share for €10) and burrata (€9 plain and €10 with truffle).
  • As for drinks, they have a lovely range of lemonades from a Sicilian brand that I really like.

Naturale Paris

This small address located in the 10th arrondissement offers Italian street food with good products. The bread and pizza dough are homemade with ancient wheat flours from sustainable agriculture. On the menu: Pucce, Puglian sandwiches (€7.90); Pizze alla pala (€6.90); lasagnas (€10.90); arancini (€5 each), and also desserts (€4.90), including, of course, a tiramisu!
