Summer is coming, and the warm weather is already here (as we clearly noticed this week with the heatwave!). We can officially say it’s the return of summer aperitifs with friends or family, and we’ve long known that as a social lubricant, the aperitif is just about the best thing in this world.
For my part, I’ve been in the habit of bringing a bottle of cider to my friends’ places for these kinds of occasions for years, even before I learned that this drink was low in calories (half as much as wine and 30% less than beer), low in alcohol (generally no more than 5.5%), and gluten-free. In short, the perfect combo!
Cider now even comes in small bottles (27.5 or 33cl, just like beer) and for those who aren’t purists, you can now find it with citrus, pear, red fruit flavors… and even vodka!
I was able to taste a lovely selection of them during a culinary workshop organized by the French Cider Association (Interprofession des Cidres de France) in a super loft (my future home) in Montreuil.
What is the conclusion of my little spiel? You guessed it… an INSIDER TIP!
Indeed, Cidres de France is inviting all Parisian cider lovers to the Soirées Perchées (Perched Evenings) for a happy hour full of surprises: every Tuesday evening in the month of June on the terrace of Nüba (a rooftop on top of the Cité de la Mode et du Design in the 13th arrondissement in Paris) from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
