My brunch at the Salon de Thé des Ecrivains

Since I was really looking forward to discovering this tea room, I decided to make it our next brunch outing with the girls.

I’ll tell you straight: we were all very disappointed by the Salon de Thé des Ecrivains.

The venue itself is truly perfect for a brunch or a tea time. It’s intimate, cozy, charming—the kind of place where you’d want to stay for hours. The problem is, we did actually end up staying for hours…

Bookstore interior with displayed books, a black armchair, and a fish-shaped cushion.

Counter with red and blue flower vases in front of a window with bars.

The issue with the Salon de Thé des Ecrivains mainly lies in the service; at least on the day we visited, it was quite catastrophic.

I had booked a table for 3 people, and although we arrived right at the reservation time, we had to wait a good 30 minutes to be seated. It didn’t start well…

After that, the time it took to order and be served felt like an eternity. The place is tiny, and only one person was handling the service, but the lack of professionalism was glaring.

They had to ask us for our order at least three times, and even then, I think we received things in a messy order, totally hit or miss.

It’s a real shame because, as for the food, I found it very good. Fresh, healthy, and tasty products, nice presentation, and a fair price. But in the end, to enjoy all of that, it took us a good 2 hours and 30 minutes to finish our brunch… We weren’t in any particular hurry, but still, there are limits.

Bowl of white rice with black sesame seeds, salmon, omelet, and vegetables.

I truly hope the service improves, because I would love to return to this beautiful spot—whose atmosphere I really enjoyed—to experience this little tea room under better conditions.
