My Parisian Cocktail Bars

by Melle Bon Plan
Published: Updated:

For me, cocktail bars are the temples of Parisian elegance. You step through a door and often find yourself in an insider’s den where high-level mixology is unveiled by bartenders who prepare cocktails that are as delicious as they are aesthetic. Let’s be honest, making good cocktails is an art, and to do so, it is important to find bartenders capable of precise dosing and mastering the marriage of aromas.

So, here is a new selection of my favorite addresses for enjoying quality cocktails in Paris (you can find previous articles on this same theme with other addresses just here).

Cocktail enjoyed at the André Latin bar, Hôtel André Latin Paris.

The Bar at Hôtel André Latin

The cocktail bar at the Hôtel André Latin is a small, intimate, and cozy spot just how I like them, with dandy decor designed by interior architect Michaël Malapert as a tribute to André, the owners’ grandfather who lived during the Belle Époque.

The space now hosts a new cocktail bar with vintage touches, open to outside visitors. I really loved the elegant atmosphere of the establishment and its “home sweet home” feel, as the bar is directly accessible from the street. On the menu are creations with or without alcohol, which evolve according to seasonal products, as well as great mixology classics, from the Manhattan to the Aperol Spritz.

To taste:

  • The André Loves Marie (€11) with Marie Brizard yuzu liqueur, ginger-infused vodka, lemon, licorice, jasmine green tea, and ginger ale. This cocktail was created for Paris Cocktail Week #3 and has remained on the menu since.
  • The Sweet Dreams (€10), gin, cucumber, basil, and pink peppercorns, very refreshing.

Bar at the Hôtel Edouard 7

Here is a hotel located on Avenue de l’Opéra, a few meters from the magnificent Charles Garnier building, which I have already mentioned on the blog, notably for its restaurant.

Today, I am bringing it up again to talk to you about its Bar l’E7 (which I had also previously mentioned in a previous article). The establishment’s bartender introduced us to his cocktail menu.

Cocktail prices: between €14 and €20

Good deals:

  • cocktails & tapas: for 2 cocktails purchased = 1 plate of tapas free every night at the bar
  • so French: 2 glasses of wine + 1 board of charcuterie or cheeses for €20 per person

Secret 8, the secret bar at Buddha-Bar Paris

Secret 8 is the new secret and hidden bar at Buddha-Bar Paris which offers a new cocktail-bar experience with a more intimate side.

In a small, cozy boudoir hidden behind a door that doesn’t look like one, you sip high-quality cocktails at Secret 8 in a one-on-one with the bartender (or almost) in a Cabinet of Curiosities-style decor (unfortunately, I couldn’t take photos of the place because it must remain secret… so you’ll have to go there to discover it!). To access it (by reservation only), you must obtain the password available on Secret 8’s social media.

On the cocktail menu, 8 alcoholic creations co-produced with Tigre Blanc Paris following the meeting of Mareva Essia and Tarja Visan, and 2 non-alcoholic creations to which a lot of attention has been paid, and those who don’t drink alcohol will be, I think, very pleasantly surprised!

To taste:

  • The Revolution 8 (€17), with Tigre Blanc vodka infused with Nepalese Timur Berry, orange marmalade, yellow lemon, yuzu soda, and artisanal Breakfast tea
  • The #NoLimit (€17) with Generous Gin, a reduction of peas and Japanese berries, lime, and coconut water
  • The Travel Box (€12), a non-alcoholic cocktail with cranberry juice, fresh basil, yellow lemon, bergamot honey, yuzu soda, and artisanal Breakfast tea

The little extra: the unique glassware, sourced from the four corners of the world and different for each cocktail

Price: €12 for non-alcoholic creations and €17 for the signature alcoholic ones
