Brunching at Coutume Café

I’m generally more of a tea person, but I do enjoy a good coffee every once in a while. In fact, a return to high-quality coffee seems to be the latest Parisian must-have, as even A Nous Paris recently wrote an article about it.

Anyway, I wanted to try the brunch at Coutume Café, which is apparently the historic spot that kicked off the new wave of Parisian coffee.

First of all, I really liked the venue with its industrial decor, as well as the quick and precise service.

As for the brunch itself, I found it quite decent, although perhaps a bit limited for the price (€25 for the one I chose).

My friend and I opted for the Detox – Veggie brunch, and I would have appreciated a bit more in the way of sweets on the menu. On the other hand, the Ogres brunch (€30) looked very hearty, but unfortunately, we didn’t get to try it.

Small drawback: the place is packed by 12:00 PM on Sundays for brunch, so I advise you to arrive early if you want a seat, as reservations are impossible.

That said, I would definitely go back just to try a simple coffee and a treat during the day.

Update from 11/30/2013:

Coutume Café has just partnered with the LabStore Paris to create Coutume Lab.

Coutume/Lab logo with three earth-toned shapes.

A place that promises to be the “coffee shop” of tomorrow, offering sensory experiments to help you (re)discover the subtle aromas of coffee in a completely different way. Definitely one to try as soon as possible!

If you love coffee, you’ll find it in all its forms: liquid to drink, Nano and Aerial to inhale, olfactory to smell, and gustatory to savor without a cup or spoon—in short, inevitably with a brand new way of consuming it.
