Thanksgiving is a convivial holiday, but also a family-oriented one, as it is above all a time for sharing. In these times, even if this American tradition is not our own, I think in spirit, it’s something we are all looking for right now.
Here is a small selection of top tips and great places in Paris to enjoy this holiday which commemorates, on the fourth Thursday of November, the sharing of food between the indigenous First Nations and the first American settlers. This year it falls on this Thursday, November 26th.

Thanksgiving Brunch at the Marriott Champs Elysees
The Paris Marriott Champs Elysees (which I already told you about this summer in my ice cream special article) has decided to honor United States culture with a Thanksgiving brunch on the Sunday following the famous American holiday.
On the program: a buffet composed of pastries and bread, cold cuts, salads, fish, cheeses… plus some American specialties: pumpkin soup, macaroni and cheddar gratin, sliced turkey with cranberry sauce, creamy polenta, cheesecake, and nut pie…
Several culinary activities will also be offered: an omelet and savory crepe station, a cotton candy workshop, or a stand with fresh frozen yogurt with homemade toppings.

Thanksgiving at the Hôtel de Sers
For the first time, the restaurant at the Hôtel de Sers (which I mentioned recently on the blog) is proposing to celebrate the American holiday on Thursday, November 26th, through a menu featuring the traditional Thanksgiving turkey.
The 2015 Thanksgiving menu:
- Amuse-bouche to start. Unfortunately, I have a hard time with gelatin, but someone else enjoyed it…
- American lobster hot dog with tetragonia sprouts in truffle oil (the texture of these leaves is very interesting).
- Roast turkey (naturally, how can one think of Thanksgiving without the famous turkey) in a ballotine stuffed with wild mushrooms with a duo of potatoes and cranberry sauce.
- A little frozen and alcoholic break to continue the meal…
- To finish, a fine apple and pumpkin tart with vanilla ice cream.
