My lunch at the Hôtel de Sers

Sometimes I go to a hotel to sleep (presumably that seems the most obvious reason), but sometimes I also go there to enjoy delicious cocktails or quite simply to eat.

It was therefore over an autumnal lunch that I discovered the magnificent patio of the Hôtel de Sers, an establishment perfectly located in the Parisian Golden Triangle, very close to the Avenue des Champs-Elysées.

This 5-star luxury hotel features a restaurant dining room in the form of a patio, sheltered under a glass roof, which allows you to enjoy it even when the nice weather is over.

This haven of peace with its lush setting also allows you to watch the chef Jordan Delamotte at work through a small rectangular opening in a green wall that looks out onto the patio. A way for the chef to also check on his guests’ satisfaction, I imagine…

On the menu from Jordan Delamotte‘s kitchen: seasonal products, obviously, and a short menu that ensures product freshness and changes very regularly.

Must try:

  • Small amuse-bouche; it’s often by this detail that you recognize establishments with a certain standing.

  • As a starter, the Italian Autumn, a pan-fried selection of porcini mushrooms (yes, it’s the season!) with confit tomatoes and PGI Lardo di Colonnata (€21).

  • For the main course from the “Retour du Marché” menu (see explanations at the end of the article), the Breton langoustine risotto—not very classy to eat, but so delicious and very aesthetic for photos.

  • Another dish from the “Retour du Marché” menu, the Pornic squab with Dubarry mousseline, hazelnuts, and roasted William pear.

  • For dessert, I recommend you try the chef’s Grandmother’s Apple Tart, with vanilla ice cream; famous, light, and thin, it reminded me of my own grandmother’s version (€17).

  • Another interesting dessert, the “Mi-figue, mi-raisin” (Half Fig, Half Grape) with a grape coulis, fresh figs, and a honey and almond tuile (€13).

The great deal: the “Retour du Marché” menu which changes every week and offers, for lunch from Monday to Friday, a starter/main or main/dessert menu for €42, or a starter/main/dessert for €50.

My little tip: if you have a good appetite, I recommend you take the starter, main, and dessert, otherwise you might remain a bit hungry. But in any case, you won’t be disappointed by the setting, which is perfect for a romantic meal or a catch-up with girlfriends, to chat in peace and take your time.

Once again, a moment of serenity in the middle of the Parisian hustle and bustle, which certainly has a price, but it’s not every day you have lunch in a 5-star hotel in Paris.
