My special tips for the Rugby World Cup

I’ll admit it right from the start of this article so things are clear: I am not a rugby fan. I have nothing against it, of course, but it’s a subject I don’t know very well, certainly because I’ve never really been interested in it in the end.

However, I want to take advantage of the event and highlight its positive aspects in the midst of this sports fervor.

In Paris in particular, there are many events, and bars and restaurants are making the capital vibrate to the rhythm of the Rugby World Cup, which is taking place from September 18th to October 31st, 2015.

Here is my little selection of events and places to check out to get into the British spirit during this World Cup (whether you like rugby or not) and to enjoy the convivial atmosphere that will (we hope!) take over everyone’s mood.

My little selection of spots and great deals:

The Parisian and French FrogPubs (which I have already told you about in more detail in a previous article) are getting in sync with the event with a dedicated burger, match broadcasts on High Definition screens, and special events.

The tip: fans will be able to play “Guess the Score” in all pubs during every match. Just ask the waiter for a game card and enter your predictions before halftime for a chance to win a pitcher of beer at each match.

An Instagram contest has also been set up to reward the most enthusiastic fans: every week, from September 18th to November 1st, FrogPubs will offer beer for the best photos posted using #RWC2015 #FrogPubs. The most-liked image of the week will win a jug of FrogBeer of their choice for free.

For those who aren’t fans of the oval ball, the capital’s FrogBurger restaurants offer a succulent Ruck Burger (€12.50) with a blend of British flavors, including melted aged cheddar, slices of smoked bacon, fried onions, salsa, and iceberg lettuce, all kicked up with mint mayonnaise—a must-try!

The RATP Rugby Tour

For the last two pool matches of the French national team (Canada and Ireland), the RATP is inviting, on its Facebook page, 3 die-hard fans of the “Bleus,” each with 5 of their friends, for a unique experience.

These fans will embark on an evening dedicated to rugby, starting with an exclusive tour of the RATP photography exhibition “The great moments of the French national rugby team,” followed by a ride on an “Open Tour Paris” double-decker bus, accompanied by many rugby personalities, including players from Racing 92.

The three groups of friends will be invited to share their experience on social media using #RugbyFanRATP.

The World Cup with Priceless Paris

An official partner of the Rugby World Cup 2015, MasterCard and Priceless Paris are joining the great rugby celebration through an event-based and festive campaign.

Beyond the experiences that will punctuate the competition via Priceless Paris (which is celebrating its 3rd anniversary), this program, which I already told you about in a dedicated article, is aimed at everyone who intends to properly celebrate the great Rugby festival by offering some Priceless Surprises worthy of the event.

In October, for example, rugby will head into the kitchen for a very special Priceless Supper, in partnership with Le Fooding, and two great champions: the star chef Christian Etchebest and the 1999 world vice-champion Philippe Bernat-Salles.

Other surprises and experiences are being kept secret and will take place in iconic Parisian locations. They will be announced via MasterCard’s social media (@MasterCardFR on Twitter), so stay tuned!
