My top tips and favorite addresses in Paris for dream hair

by Melle Bon Plan
Published: Updated:

With time passing, life in a very harsh urban environment, and repeated washing, it is sometimes difficult to effectively maintain your hair on a daily basis so that it doesn’t end up looking like a mop on top of our heads… As someone with long hair myself, I admit that in recent years, I have redoubled my efforts to keep it healthy, soft, shiny, and not too split or brittle, nor too greasy at the roots or too dry at the ends… in short, a real headache…

So, here are my few top tips and favorite addresses in Paris to try and keep a mane worthy of the name. And I’ll tell you right now, to achieve this goal, you won’t be able to escape a little treatment with a specialist once in a while… Why? Because they have products that individuals cannot get, and because, let’s face it, it feels good to be pampered by expert hands; it’s a luxury you sometimes need to allow yourself…

My favorite hair salons in Paris

Below, I am sharing with you my favorite hair salons I’ve tested in Paris over the past few years. I am also using this article to make a wish for the future: regularly going to the hairdresser to feel beautiful as a princess, but most importantly, choosing the right one! Here are the addresses that reconciled me with hairdressers (yes, I was angry with them since my teenage years, but that’s a long story I won’t tell you here).

_

Thomas Tuccinardi, the expert colorist from my hometown of Lyon and a social media star, opened his first salon in Paris in June 2025, which I had the chance to test at the beginning of the summer. This salon is located in the lively Etienne Marcel neighborhood in an intimate space away from prying eyes, on the first floor of a Parisian apartment. The experience in this high-end hair salon begins with a relaxed discussion with the hairdresser who will take care of me, just to tell them what I’m expecting and also to get their recommendations (that’s partly why we come to this type of address, to benefit from expertise and personalized advice). We then head to the Head Spa area for a shampoo and scalp treatment while enjoying a relaxing head massage, topped off with a moment of relaxation in the establishment’s massage chairs – the best!

For my part, I tested the cut + blowout service (€110) with shampoo and a customized treatment based on my hair needs. It lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes, and I was very satisfied with the experience and my slightly refreshed new haircut upon leaving the salon.

Mario Lopes, Haute Coiffure Française

The Maison Mario Lopes, located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, has been dedicated to the art of hairdressing for over 20 years, during which it has received several honorary distinctions, such as Best Hairdresser in France in 2011. When you go to this salon, you feel completely taken care of; the house staff will strive to find a hairstyle that harmonizes with your personality and will help you spend a relaxing moment dedicated to your well-being. The sleek and very luminous decoration of the place was designed to welcome clients into a Zen-like atmosphere.

After a few exchanges with Mario Lopes, you immediately feel the professionalism and quality of this hair artist’s work. After a quick diagnosis of my hair’s strengths and weaknesses, he advised me on some improvements to add more suppleness and better drape, and he lightly layered the front of my hair. The magical moment was obviously the wonderful scalp massage (you wish it would last for hours…) that allows you to fully relax and unwind (well, at that moment, I must admit I didn’t want to leave…). As for their specialty, the house is known for its Mediterranean balayage, a technique that offers brown hair a very specific treatment to add relief to the hair and revive the color. The goal is to bring subtle nuances, more or less pronounced, and deep light using an argan oil-based treatment.

Jordy Brechkoff Coiffeur de Paris

Jordy Brechkoff offers a whole range of high-end treatments and services in his urban-style salon, in the very boho atmosphere of the Bastille district. A specialist in hair Botox, straightening, extensions, and custom coloration (with a mixture he prepares himself), he has worked in studios with Edouard Nahum and has quickly become “the reference” for luxury hairdressing. In his salon, a sleek and intimate relaxation space, you are truly pampered like a VIP and enjoy an ultra-personalized appointment with Jordy, who gives all his attention to his clients.

On the program: diagnosis according to your hair type (Afro / mixed-race / Mediterranean) as well as makeover and visagiste advice to discover the colors, tones, and cut that will best highlight you, all while respecting your style so that it remains in harmony with your skin tone and complexion.

But what marked me the most about Jordy is the kindness, the communicative good mood, and the warm, intimate, relaxed, and even family atmosphere that reigns in his salon. Here, you listen to the advice of professionals without ever feeling forced. If an idea needs time to sink in, they will give us time for our own reflection and perhaps opt for a change (radical or not) during our next visit to the salon. Just the opposite of the image I had of hairdressers… Once again, my favorite moment was going to the sink for the extraordinary scalp massage, during which you also benefit from the benefits of light therapy and the massage chair (a very good idea!).

My case: The expert eye of Stéphane advised me on a light layering in the back to avoid the slightly heavy drape of my long hair, then I was treated to a treatment with moisturizing active ingredients to respect the hair fiber and with a sanitizing action on the scalp.

At the end of my appointment, I was also given some advice to take care of my hair and with the goal of keeping the magnificent effect obtained after the session (see photo below). For info (and because this time I couldn’t really test it), Jordy also brings his know-how to men with a barber service and a real old-fashioned shave.

Best Cut or the democratization of haute coiffure

I am sharing a great hair tip here. Best Cut is a low-cost but high-quality hair salon concept, opened in 2015, to allow everyone to have access to a quality service at the best price. This concept, which immediately seduced me as you can imagine, I can also recommend to you because I personally tested it (and therefore approved it). When I arrived, I just wanted to shorten my hair a little because my lengths were a bit “tired”. In the end, the hairdresser advised me to keep my texture and length, but he redesigned my cut.

Unlike other “entry-level” hair salons where they had just cut my hair, here they gave me a hairstyle, and this little wordplay changes everything! In the end, I kept my hair length, but I came out with a stylish haircut and much healthier hair. The little extra: the nail bar to get a personal manicure while waiting between two steps of our treatment. So, we take the time to take care of ourselves; it’s very well thought out!

Prices:

  • €15 for a men’s cut
  • €15 for a shampoo and blowout (from Monday to Thursday)
  • €21 for a cut, shampoo + blowout
  • €31 for a cut, color, shampoo + blowout
  • €41 for a cut, ammonia-free color, shampoo + blowout
  • €51 for a cut, balayage, shampoo + blowout
  • Warning: additional cost of €10 for long hair

My products for maintaining my hair

Anyway, now, let’s move on to the part about magic products (or not), discovered recently or used for a long time, which are essential assets in the quest for hair perfection (if the latter exists)…

Hair care elixirs

Lissfactor Ô de Bonheur hair spray bottle with blue and yellow patterns.

The new hair elixir from Lissfactor Laboratories, Ô de Bonheur, acts both as a moisturizing and protective cream but also as a cleansing treatment like a makeup remover milk. It should be used 2 to 3 times a week, sprayed on dry hair without rinsing (a smaller amount should be sprayed then) or wet hair after shampooing, or alone as a replacement for shampoo.

The goal: restore the radiance of dull hair, rehydrate, beautify, and protect hair.
Price: €27

Another product in the same range, the shine care elixir with argan and pearlescent pigments from Lovea Nature (with natural ingredients and paraben-free), a brand sold exclusively at Monoprix.

This regenerating and protective leave-in hair elixir is applied to dry or damp hair, insisting on the ends. You must massage the lengths with the product and then let it dry.

The goal: protect hair from external aggressions and provide shine and light.
Price: €6.99

Roger & Gallet, Phyto, and Melvita hair products.

Dry oil for hair

Since I discovered hair oil, I use it in the evening when I’m about to go to bed; I apply it to the length of my hair, which I then braid.

I let it work all night and wash my hair in the morning when I wake up. The result on my hair (which is quite long) is impressive. More shine first, and very good hair hydration.

My little selection: L’Or Bio from Melvita (€25.50); Huile Gourmande Fleur de Figuier from Roger & Gallet (€21.90); Huile Soyeuse from Phyto (€18); Lovea’s 95% natural origin pre-shampoo oil (€6.99)

Opalis, hair care treatments

It had been a long time since I heard about this brand specializing in hair care in the blogosphere. So I was delighted when I was offered to come and test one of their new Essential treatments.

Arriving in the alcove of this salon, located a stone’s throw from the Champs-Élysées, I found the atmosphere very intimate, even esoteric (perhaps because of the music too). It’s actually quite dark in the vaulted cellar where the treatments are provided, and to tell you the truth, I almost fell asleep during mine. In my defense, the comfortable and reclined chair in which I was installed didn’t help me stay awake very much…

After a diagnosis of my hair, I was offered a treatment adapted to my hair type: each product, each plant, each essential oil was chosen based on the nature of my scalp. For me, the main hair concern remains excess sebum

Comfortably lying in an individual boudoir, the treatment started with a plant poultice. Followed by rinsing, based on essential oils or floral water, and finally natural drying, then hair styling without aggression using an incredible Japanese brush (yes, I assure you!). The advantage of the small size of this salon is that there are very few clients at the same time (I don’t think there can be more than 2 or 3 people simultaneously)…

So the hair expert takes the time to explain what she is doing to your hair and gives you some maintenance advice, so don’t hesitate to ask her! You almost feel like you’re getting a treatment at home in the end…

The result: my hair was softer than ever (so I couldn’t stop touching it…) and beautifully shiny. They even kept this shine and softness even after several washes. In short, a real success!

Prices:

  • Essential Treatment: €70 / 1h without massage (stimulating, moisturizing, balancing, purifying, coating, or silicon-removing)
  • Supreme Treatment: €92 / 1h30 including a relaxing massage
