The third edition of The Shortest Day, the short film festival initiated by the National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image, returns in 2013 on Saturday, December 21st.

I have been covering this wonderful event on the blog since its very first edition, and I am very proud of it.

This operation aims to promote the diversity (professional and amateur practices) and creativity (all genres and all lengths) of short films to the general public.

It is a unifying and participatory celebration that seeks to foster access to culture and inspire new vocations in a fun and joyful way by offering collective screenings, which are very often free!

Numerous sessions are organized in many cities across France and in about forty other countries.

Melle Bon Plan’s little Parisian selection:

  • The CND, a venue I particularly appreciate, is teaming up once again this year by offering a Short Film Night with a continuous program of animated films and fiction shorts created by choreographic artists or young directors graduating from film schools.
  • The Lady and the Unicorn: The Lady offering a jewel. Medieval tapestry. At the Cluny Museum, on that day from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM, discover “The Shortest Day” with short film screenings based on The Lady and the Unicorn tapestry, one of the museum’s greatest masterpieces, and the medieval world, in collaboration with the CNC.
  • The Le Louxor cinema, which reopened recently, is inviting La FEMIS at 8:00 PM for a Carte Blanche evening.
  • Mk2 and UGC cinemas are also offering their own programming with free access at 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM, depending on the theater.

All that’s left is for me to wish you all a wonderful short film festival!
