The phenomenon of collaborative consumption

It’s a trend that has been gaining momentum lately. This new sharing economy is changing everyone’s lifestyle, favoring the idea of usage over ownership.

Why buy an item when you can just rent or exchange it?

This collaborative economy is based on the exchange and optimization of the use of material goods, and even immaterial ones (skills, knowledge, etc.). We can share our car, host strangers, lend household appliances, trade services, and more.

This philosophy can be applied to very different areas, such as transport (Velib’, Autolib’), food (Cookening, WWOOF…), accommodation (Couchsurfing, Home Exchange, Airbnb,…) and even finance (KissKissBankBank); no service or product escapes the rule of sharing today.
