The 2013 Edition of the Fête de la Musique

by Melle Bon Plan
Published: Updated:

For the 32nd edition of the Fête de la Musique, this Friday, June 21st, the Ministry of Culture and Communication has chosen to put the voice in the spotlight.

This 2013 Fête de la Musique will be dedicated to “The Voice” and will pay a special tribute to one of the most famous voices of French song, Edith Piaf, who passed away 50 years ago.

This festive event will be celebrated out loud, bringing together all artists, amateurs and professionals alike, to celebrate music as it should be, and with it, the most beautiful of all instruments!

MelleBonPlan’s little selection for Paris:

  • This year, Ricard S.A. Live Music and the Fair will once again take over the Place Denfert-Rochereau in Paris with 4 bands and 4 universes to discover during this Fête de la Musique. On the program: Stuck in the Sound, Sarah W Papsun, Aline, and Hyphen Hyphen (a wonderful band I discovered this year at Nuits Sonores) will take turns on the Ricard S.A Live Music stage starting at 7:30 PM, offering the very best of current indie-rock and pop in France!

  • Medieval chimes in the courtyard of the Cluny Museum, a concert of “high” (loud) instruments: shawm, bombarde, slide trumpet, and bagpipes by the trio Alta at 12:30 PM (duration 1 hour)
  • A special David Bowie evening at the Centre Pompidou from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Studio 13/16
  • A Monkey Crashers evening with Les Canailles, at the W Paris-Opéra Hotel (+ special guest)

  • A dinner-concert with VoulezVousDîner, the first “social dining” website, an online platform for organizing and booking meals. Sacha, a VoulezVousDîner host whose dinner-concerts combine fine dining with the art of the piano, is the perfect example. So why not launch your own dinner-concert in honor of the Fête de la Musique?
