A day at Parc Astérix

I wouldn’t say I’m a pro at theme parks… You could even say I’ve been to quite a few of them, ultimately. On the blog, I’ve already told you about my getaway to Futuroscope and my experience at Disneyland Paris. Today, I’m adding to this section to tell you about Parc Astérix, which I just tested at the end of last summer with my favorite photographer. It’s even more relevant as the park has just reopened its doors for its 2019-2020 season and is celebrating its 30th anniversary!

Since I work, we went on a Saturday. So, I can confirm that there were a lot of people and quite a bit of waiting in line for each attraction… It was the first and only time (so far) that I’ve been to the park, so I don’t really have a point of comparison.

The day’s itinerary was simple. We left Paris not too late to arrive just after the site opened (it opens at 10 am on weekends) to make the most of our day. For your information, the park is located in Plailly in the Oise department.

We drove there, and it takes about 45 minutes on average from Paris. However, an important piece of information: you should know that the parking is paid and the price is not included in the park entrance ticket! Once we entered the park, I admit we weren’t sure where to start… Indeed, it was our first time at the park for both of us…

The attractions we tested at Parc Astérix

Here is the list of attractions that we had time to try in one day at Parc Astérix on a Saturday. Keep in mind that we didn’t stay very late because, by the end of the afternoon, we were actually quite tired.

SOS Numérobis

This is truly a roller coaster for children, but there wasn’t much wait time… We’ll say it can be nice for kids or adults who are afraid of the big attractions.

_

Le Défi de César

This “Mad House” type attraction puts us in the shoes of future Roman soldiers recruited for Caesar’s army to be sent as spies into Gaul. The sets are nice.

_

Les Espions de César

This attraction allows you to fly over a small part of the park, and I think it’s great to do it upon arrival to get your bearings in the park. However, if you are looking for thrills, keep walking…

_

Pégase Express

We loved this roller coaster! The sensations are great, and the backward section is particularly fun! I recommend it. However, there was a huge wait time for this attraction.

Epidemaïs Croisière

This very quiet attraction on the water had the advantage of being completely empty when we went.

_

La Rivière d’Elis

Once again, a very quiet attraction on the water where there was no one. Yes, we really looked for the attractions where there was no line… Because I hate waiting (I am clearly not made for theme parks).

L’Oxygénarium

This rapid descent in a large buoy is very funny. However, you come out completely soaked, so you have to be prepared for that!

_

Le Grand Splash

I think it’s the very first attraction we did when we arrived. I was completely soaked, especially because of the finale where our boat slides down an 11-meter drop. But otherwise, it’s a very nice attraction!

Romus et Rapidus

Another attraction on the water, which I found particularly well-done. We go down a slightly turbulent river on a large buoy equipped with seats. A must-try!

La Trace du Hourra

I really wanted to do this attraction, but I admit I won’t go back on it. The sensation of speed is very nice, but the vibrations of the bobsleigh on the tracks gave me a horrible migraine!

For the rest of the attractions, either they didn’t tempt us, or there were too many people and we didn’t have the courage to wait in line… However, I admit to having been quite disappointed by a few attractions for children (especially the one in the photo above) that we were prevented from doing under the pretext that we were adults without children. Frankly, I think it’s discrimination! If I like to have fun on children’s rides, it’s my business, right? Anyway, that was my little rant…
