Published: Updated:

Time flies, and here we are at the start of the beautiful season already. The beach, lounging around. Yes, but theaters and other show venues stay open during the summer period. Whether you are on vacation or not, we offer a wide choice of quality performances that I hope will make you spend some pleasant moments. And let’s not forget the invitations for you to win, obviously at the end of this article!

For our part, we will be here all summer long. So, have a great vacation everyone, and let yourself be guided into the magic of these shows.

Also note that, at the end of April, during the 27th Nuit des Molières, the musical Bal des Vampires, which we talked about a lot on the blog, received the award for visual creation. Congratulations to the whole team. It is well deserved.

Mummenschanz, the musicians of silence

Poster for the Mummenschanz show, the musicians of silence, from July 3rd to 12th.I had already seen them on stage in 2013. Before that, I had never heard of the troupe or the concept of their show. But since I’m curious, I went to discover the performance at the Théâtre Antoine.

Their universe is truly astonishing. The characters, or rather strange shapes, are made from cardboard, modeling clay, and sometimes toilet paper rolls. The most baffling part is that they manage to captivate us by telling stories without a single word throughout the entire show. Total silence!

Known and recognized all over the world, Mummenschanz have settled in Paris for about ten days only. This show can also be enjoyed with the family. To give you a little idea, here are some photos that will take you into a futuristic universe.

Toc Toc Show – Martine Superstar

Toc Toc Show poster with Martine Superstar, Special Summer Finale.Ah! I must tell you about an offbeat, colorful, surprising, yet likable character that I was introduced to a few months ago already. Now it’s my turn to make the introductions.

Martine Superstar, a muse of Parisian nights who loves luxury and champagne, runs wild with her sidekick Adrien Champion every last Monday of the month at the famous transformist cabaret L’Artishow.

Martine, a beautiful brunette with her inseparable Hermès scarf in her hair, performs her show admirably, and throughout the evening, she also hosts artists from different backgrounds, which allows the audience in the room to discover their latest acts through songs or sketches. Martine is also an avid reader of this blog. Yes, really!! Besides, she is preparing a nice surprise for you in one of our upcoming articles. Stay tuned …..

Cathy’s review :

As someone who doesn’t like “clichés,” I was pleasantly surprised the first time I went. Martine sings, dances, sets the mood, and she is perfect in her role. I returned a few months later for a second experience.

The guests change regularly. The little extra of this show is mixing transformism with a “traditional” show in a warm atmosphere. And when it is done with great professionalism, it’s worth the trip.

Tous des malades

Poster for the play Tous des Malades at the Palais des Glaces with Marion Game.Just by seeing the poster, we know we are going to have a good time laughing. For my part, I love Alexandre Pesle whom I discovered during the great Nuls era, then later with Caméra café and Espace Détente.

He will be surrounded by our favorite Huguette from the hit mini-series Scènes de ménage, known as Marion Game, and Virginie Ledieu (Marion’s daughter in real life). The famous TV host Alex Goude is directing this comedy. I am like you, I can’t wait to see the play.

The story :

This comedy takes place in a pharmacy where several people are forced to stay together to avoid and protect themselves from the storm raging violently outside. But when you bring together several totally different personalities, the danger isn’t necessarily the weather …….

Cathy’s review:

Well friends, I came back from the play a little disappointed. Yes, it’s funny but nothing innovative. Let’s be clear: I am disappointed. Too cute for me.

Jeremy James Aurait Voulu

Poster for the Jeremy James Aurait Voulu show at Comédie des 3 Bornes.

I recommend this nice and very funny young comedian to you. I met him, well no… he was the one who sent an invitation to the blog’s email to come and discover his show. Since I liked his direct style, I went and was not disappointed.

The story :

His own. When he was a kid, Jeremy was drawn to the world of show business. In fact, he already saw himself as a guest on Hit Machine, the flagship show from the 90s to 2009. But his parents were there to watch over him. So the future dancer-comedian who dreamed of saying “Good evening Paris” found himself … in a business school with the background noise of “Studies first!”. It is with a lot of humor that Jeremy looks back on his education, his odd jobs, his passion for dance, etc…

Cathy’s review :

I liked his freshness and the fact that he mixes dance into his stand-up. Very comfortable on stage, his show is well-paced. He is very energetic without being stressful. In short, a good evening. Other friends went to see him with the same enthusiasm.

Gustave with Jacques Weber

Jacques Weber in Gustave, a show inspired by Gustave Flaubert.

Sometimes there are magical encounters. And this is thanks to the blog. Indeed, a few bloggers and I had the privilege of attending a meeting with the very talented Jacques Weber.

This cultured man has a talent for making a wide audience love theater and want to discover it. This moment will remain a good memory in my life as a blogger. But for now, let’s go back to the play he is currently performing at the Théâtre de l’Atelier.

The actor interprets or rather takes up the role of the writer Gustave Flaubert. The text, freely adapted from his correspondence, describes a Flaubert who expresses with rage the poverty of society and complains about his conception of love. The writer has been recognized for his focus on human behavior.

The performance of Jacques Weber is masterful. He is alone on stage without being alone. Let me explain: Another actor “performs” in the play. Except that his role is that of a mute. I came out of this show enchanted. A beautiful text, a beautiful performance, in short, a very good moment not to be missed under any circumstances.

The Dream of a Ridiculous Man

The Dream of a Ridiculous ManA radical change of pace with a play adapted and performed by Jean-Paul Sermadiras. Taken from the short story written by Fyodor Dostoevsky, the famous Russian writer, Olivier Ythier managed to stage this monologue where the hero, weary of life and wanting to end it, plunges into a dream where life is happiness.

People live free and happy. He who touched happiness in dreams, how will he wake up?

I will be going to see this play soon with Mademoiselle Bon Plan. We will certainly give you our impressions.

Melle Bon Plan’s review: An impressive monologue by an actor whom you can sense is almost on the verge of madness. I liked the interpretation of this Dostoevsky text which may not be the easiest to access, but which proves to be deep and tragic.

Ilaria Graziano & Francesco Forni

Poster of Ilaria Graziano and Francesco Forni in concert on horseback. It just goes to show, artists can meet on a park bench! Let me explain. At lunchtime, in a Parisian park in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, I received a message from a friend telling me they had made a great artistic discovery that my readers would surely like. Now that you know me, you have been able to see that I was fond of new things.

I had the chance to listen to their first album From Bedlam to Lenane which will be released on July 21st. From the very first notes, I was immediately seduced by Ilaria‘s tone which harmonizes well with the duo she forms with Francesco. The songs are a subtle blend of alternative folk and blues-tinged tunes. The Italians have honored this album.

For those who don’t know them or who missed their time in Paris on June 12th, know that Ilaria has worked on soundtracks for Japanese animated films and has also sung in a duet with a big name in music: Marianne Faithfull. As for Francesco, he has been making music for a good ten years. He is the composer of the music for the film Santos by Roberto Saviano.

If you are lucky enough to spend your vacation in Europe, you will be able to see them on tour this summer.

Draw my Film

Exceptionally for those who won’t be able to go to the show at night, because you will be out dancing or having a drink with friends, well I thought of you.

Hands writing "Draw my film" and drawing a movie clapboard.

When you are at the beach between two swims, you can watch the new web capsule led by Ganesh and broadcast on the Dafouk channel every Tuesday.

Each week, the YouTuber spoofs a movie release for the next day. The video I am offering you is the latest episode of the series and it concerns the Terminator movie.

My columns are about shows. I don’t want to mix everything up. But since it’s vacation time, I allowed myself a very nice little detour.

Dan in Comment je vais bien

Dan Simokvitch Billet RéducIn our small selection for April, I conducted an interview with the actress Dan Simkovitch, very well known to the general public thanks to her role as Madame Bellefeuille in Les Filles d’à côté.
