Free parking in Paris in August

Even though I’m heading off for a few days of vacation away from Paris starting tonight, I’m also thinking about those who will be staying in the capital this month of August. Plus, this tip also applies to tourists driving through our beautiful city. Indeed, in general, it is easier to get around by car in large cities during the month of August, when you can also take advantage of free parking.

In Paris, parking was free in August 2012; however, not all streets in the city were necessarily covered by this exceptional free offer. Indeed, major streets and avenues, like the Champs-Élysées for example, were not included in this summer deal.

To find out, you need to check the nearest parking meter, which will let you know what to expect (without a yellow sticker: parking remains paid, including in August; with a yellow sticker, you have the option to park for free).

A quick reminder as well: the maximum parking duration in one spot is set at 7 days; beyond that, the vehicle can be towed (which can be quite annoying if you are on vacation…).

To find all the streets in Paris offering free or paid parking in August 2012, you can consult the following table. Happy holidays to everyone!

Update from 04/30/2021: Unfortunately, the Paris city council put an end to free parking in August back in 2015…
