Because we also talk quite a bit about cultural tips here, I wanted to write a quick post today about the Spring of Poets, which has the theme The Voices of the Poem this year, and which allows everyone to discover the diversity and richness of poetry for free.
The event will be held this year all over France from Saturday, March 9th to Sunday, March 24th.
Sharing poems within the city, which has been the ambition of the Spring of Poets for 15 years, necessarily happens through the spoken voice, and 2013 will make this living polyphony heard more than ever.
During these 15 days in March, in various locations, the poetic voice will be raised so that as many people as possible are invited to become carriers of poems.
The goal is for those involved in the event to embrace multiple modes of oral transmission: reading by the poet, the actor, or the poetry lover; whispering in the ear, reading at the microphone, on the radio, recorded reading, musical reading, performance, reading in the dark, sung poem, brief daily reading in class or in the library, unexpected reading on public transport, in shops, waiting rooms…
A special feature of this edition, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Spring of Poets, is that the event invites a hundred towns and villages in France to organize, on Saturday, March 9th, 2013, under the banner Make Way for the Poem, a huge wave of poetry readings in public spaces.
