An exceptional concert-cooking show titled “A Feast for the Ears” (Festin d’Oreille) is being offered to the public by the Quai Branly museum in conjunction with its exhibition “The Seductions of the Palace,” this evening, Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 6:00 PM.
To kick off the new season of Music Salons, those musical events that favor closeness with the artists in a festive atmosphere, the Quai Branly museum is presenting an astonishing concert that blends music and gastronomy.
Celebrating Chinese cuisine, this concert is held in connection with the exhibition The Seductions of the Palace, Cooking and Eating in China: musicians from the Arfi (Association for the Research of an Imaginary Folklore) and Lyon-based chef Jean Brouilly are putting on an exceptional concert-cooking show.
Accompanied at the stove by Chinese cook Kim Siew-Ngoh, the Michelin-starred chef orchestrates a marriage of flavors and the tempo of peeling and cooking to the sound of drums, trumpet, or saxophone: the whole result is jazz-inspired, creative, and spontaneous music, punctuated by the ever-magical movements of the two cooks. Alternating between spectator and actor, the audience will actively participate in the festivities: they will be invited to smell and taste some of the dishes prepared by the culinary duo.
It’s a chance to discover the “The Seductions of the Palace, Cooking and Eating in China” exhibition from a different angle, on display on the museum’s East mezzanine until September 30, 2012.
Free concert with purchase of a museum admission ticket.
