The MuMo, the mobile contemporary art museum, is an innovative project in how it reimagines the relationship between children and contemporary art, and I therefore feel it is important to highlight this initiative on the blog.
The goal of this project, which brings together 16 artists, is to travel and meet children on the roads of France until the end of 2011, and starting in 2012, the MuMo will also travel through Cameroon, Senegal, Ivory Coast, and Benin.
For the month of December, the MuMo will stop in the Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regions. To find out the dates and the route of the MuMo, visit the website: http://www.musee-mobile.fr
The MuMo features an exhibition space of 45m², where the giant red rabbit by American artist Paul McCarthy takes center stage.
Visits to the 16-meter-long container, designed with Daniel Buren’s signature colors, last between 30 and 45 minutes, and children are accompanied by a specialized mediator to spark their curiosity and provoke their first artistic emotions.
In short, it’s an event you shouldn’t miss if it passes near your home!
